Hello everyone!
I have some small problem which i cant resolve. It looks like i should turn something on in preferences... and thats all. But i cant find it.

For example:
Cubase 5.
I have midi track with synth.
When i click on button "e" of my midi track it opens channel settings and selected track jumps from midi to automation track of this synth. It makes me crazy.
For example if i use instrument track i dont have this issue.
I have picture which demonstrates it.

Anyone know can i solve this problem?

That MIDI track is playing that VST instrument so when you click that button it opens the settings for that VST Instrument.

Yeah, i know. But i've seen some video about cubase where wasnt that issue.
Really annoying thing.
For example: I play on midi and want to change something in eq. I press e, then opens track settings and selection from midi track jumps to current vsti automation and then i again need to select midi track for continue my playing.

What if you click on the "e" in the midi channel. (inside the circle by #1)

I wouldn't be suprised if that doesn't work if you're using a VST instrument.

There are two ways you can do an instrument.

One way is to do it like you have there. That way multiple MIDI tracks can play the same instrument. Which is great if you want multiple MIDI tracks to play the same instrument. It's less overhead on the computer, you can change settings in one area and it works for all tracks.

Or you can just insert an instrument track and it basically acts just like a MIDI track but you don't have the extra VST instrument, it's built into the track. I have a feeling that way you would be able to click the "e" and get the settings you want. I'd test it myself but the PC I'm on doesn't have Cubase.

Thanks! But i've told you about another thing...

On another forum people found solution of my problem.

How should be:
