"Julie" - Comments Appreciated

The vocal was very nice but the doubling was a bit much.It would have been
cooler(to my ears)if it just occured here and there.
This sounds retro and modern at the same time.All and all it is a good listen.
 
Nice song. I like a lot of the sounds you got. I think the rhythm guitar in the left channel is panned too far left and doesn't match the right channel in volume and panning. Try and bring it in more with the rest of the mix, if that makes sense. I like the vocals that you got. Guitar solo at 1:28 sounds too far back...like too much reverb. If you were going for that, then leave it though. Good singer. Drums sound pretty good but I could use more of them. They seem to drift in the distance with your guitar. At 2:46 the guitar seemed loud and scared the piss out of me. lol....maybe bring it down a bit and pan it toward the middle for it's solo and then bring it down more and pan it back to it's originial position when the vocals come back it. Again, during the fade out, the left guitar seems too far away from the rest of the mix. Might have a lot to do with the reverb during that point.
Okay, overall good song. Nice job! :cool:
 
Thanks very much for the responses! All observations were right on the money...in fact, we did a final mix yesterday, and most of what you suggested has been taken care of (removed the vocal doubling, lowered the lead guitar bits, etc.). We'll be posting the final version soon, along with eight or nine others we've been working on for the past two months.
