Why does my JoeMeek VC6Q compress sometimes more than other times using the same settings and mic, a Rode NT2?

well one setting wont work the same for two different vocalists or settings. One day you have a nice even singer and the next day you record a screamer... now this may be too obvious so are you recording the same person at the same general volume in both instances?

Aside from this concern, how is the sound quality? I also own a NT2 and I'm trying to decide between a Behringer Ultragain, which I can get for about $150, or a VC3Q. Whats your take?

I think the vc3q would be a better investment.
Have you looked at the mindprint an/di pro?

I use a vc6q and I love it

I haven't actually - is it more or less in the same $$$ range? I've pretty much decided to go for the Joe meek, just making some last minute inquiries.
