Ahh

Sounds nice, Shakes. You have Juicies Seal Of Approval.
I would like to hear more intimacy in the vocals. Maybe a bit closer to the mic for some mouth/throat sounds, more in your face, perhaps. Maybe some high end glass or sheen would make it more up front and intimate. Perhaps its the "air" that Jesum speaks of.
And of course, a little crunchy guitar in the background would make His Flyness feel orgasmically happy. :)
Take care,
Juicy

Sounds nice Shakes -

Ricky Skaggs would be proud. You should be one of those Nashville writers- you could have a hit there. Personally I think the vocal is right there - doesn't need to be any more in your face than that.

I would love to add piano to that track.

I just bought a 4033 - nice to know it can sound that good. The VCQ you recorded on sounds more transparent than my VC3Q. I just assmumed they'd sound about the same from a "coloration" standpoint.

Very nice work for only five tracks. The VC1Q gets many opinions for vocals, drums and guitars. The mic pre is excellent and with the compressor off it is very airy and transparent.

The warmth and tone you hear is directly from the photo-optical device in the compressor. The light source generates a 2nd order harmonic, so the off shot of this is a "Tube" type of sound. VCA Compressors offer little or no sound so it appears transparent, but VCA compressors have very high ratios, so they can pump and breath. Ultimately it depends on what you’re looking for in the track your doing

The Joemeek always seems to get mixed emotions because it has a character, or signature type sound that you either like, or do not like, but Chuck Ainley, Jamie Tate, Steve Weirner, and many others in Nashville are loaded up with Meeks.

I always say variety is the key in any studio. It certainly is in mine and the Meek sound is something everyone should have at least one of.
