Hi all,
Have any of you tried the joemeek mp2 compressor.
http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/item--JOEMC2

it's discontinued... how much did it go for? I can't seem to find much about it. Reason being, my fiance ran into one for pretty cheap.
From what I've read on this forum, certain Joe Meek units are well liked, while others are not. And I haven't had an opporunity to try any....

Can you all tell me what the good/not so good units are...(joe meek), and how you are using them/ pre or post production...
thanks,
evt

I'll assume you're trying to be helpful, but your advice is in direct opposition to your signature line:

Rather than reading what manufactures want us to read.... one of the main things I like the most about hr.com is reading what everyday people (world wide) like you and I have experienced with equipment and etc. ]

He/she is asking for the opinion of other Joe Meek users of which they are many on this forum.

I bring this up only because you've made a habit of directing anyone with a PMI audio question to the PMI audio web site. I haven't seen you do this for any other manufacturer.

If you truely want us to believe that you have the newbies interest at heart, and have no personal vendetta against PMI, start behaving that way. Treat all people peddling products on this bbs the same (PMI, Deepwater, et al) and stop posting the URL to the PMI website to the exclusion of all other manufacturers.

thanks for looking out Phyl,
I wasn't to thrilled with the response. I am sure there are many Joe meek users right here on this forum who can help me out from their own experiences. I am always very pleased with the knowledge that is shared with me on bbs. I am learning a lot, and I'm sure I will continue to. Oh by the way I'm a she (not that it matters).

EVT... I was trying to help... but after re-reading your first post... the link I gave you most likely wouldn't help... sorry about that. If PMI-AG marketing doesn't get involved here... maybe more hr.com members will post their PMI-AG product comments, opinions, and etc.

EDIT: One of the reasons for my above "involved" comment can be seen in chessrocks post to Alan Hyatt...

I'm not on some vendetta to bring down SP mics. The reason things escalate the way they do is because it seems like every time someone says anything at all unflattering about your product ... they're basically inviting a round of attacks from some of your web friends. And maybe that's not fair to you. Either way, I think we also lose a lot of good people on this board because they don't feel free to express their opinions on things without offending people, being discredited, labeled a troublemaker or of as "having an agenda."

Basically, all I want is the freedom to say "I don't like product X" without having a group of defensive people retorting ... and without the owner of the company offering unsolicited critiques of my work. :D If I had that freedom, I might not be so quick to exercise it. For a while now, this place has actually improved in that department -- people have been able to say what they think without fear of retaliation. And we've been relatively light on the marketing. I hope we don't see it regressing backwards.
Anyway... good luck and best wishes. Don

Oh good lord, you really are devolving.

What this has to do with a simple request for information from 'uninvolved' parties escapes me.

Please refrain from bring everyone who asks a simple question into your shit storm du jour.

Phil... I was trying to help when I posted the above link... I admit after re-reading her post the link most likely wouldn't be any help. Also, I may have said a little more than I should have in this thread and if so, sorry... but it's also true.

Anyway Phil, if you can help her... please do so. Good bye.

sorry for creating a ruckus...
so... the compressor? Has anybody used it?
evt :)

You didn't do anything wrong... I should have read your first post better and Phil shouldn't jump on me. Anyway, it wasn't your fault and it's all water under the bridge now.

Once again... sorry, and I wish you the best. Don :)

I own a Joe Meek MC2 and have been pleased with it. Compared to my Presonus BlueMax the MC2 sounds better on bass, drums & elec guitar. It's more punchy than Presonus BlueMax, though I like the BlueMax for more subtle uses such as acoustic guitar & softer vocals. For rock tunes I run the whole mix through the MC2 to CD. Definatley cleans up the bass in a mix better than the BlueMax. I bought it used; can't remember what I paid for it...I think $80(?)

sorry EVT i dont know about the mc2 but the FMR RNC is supposed to be great and cheap, im looking at the new c2 but im not sure its been released yet

thanks for the replies,

I was just wondering how much they went for, since they were discontinued, and how it was liked by others on the forum... Because my fiance ran into one used for pretty cheap, but I don't know if how much it went for.

I saw another one for 199.. which is probably along the same lines as this one.

I am interested in getting the rnc... Have any of you used it with drum machines? What do you think? Right now I'm running the drum machines into a dbx mc-6 mini compressor. It works pretty well, but I would like to upgrade.

And, I'm saving for the A-designs mp2 as a dual preamp to run the drum machines through as well.
