Strange person.
I can get a JLM Baby Animal preamp kit with everything I need except XLR plug holes and case for $458 shipped.
Here's a list of the parts it comes with:

2 x JLM Baby Animal PCB & kit with all needed PCB parts and OPA2604 Opamp and JLM14 input transformer.
1 x 48v 380mA 18W SMPS 90v to 250v world power supply
1 x DC Connector for SMPS
2 x JLM Go Between PCB
2 x JLM DI PCB & full PCB parts kit
1 x JLM 99v Mono or Stereo 1 rack unit flat Front panel with laser text not drilled
1 x Air Mail

Does anybody have any experience with JLM preamps of any of the parts listed that they'd like to share.
So far I've heard they're awesome and the retail for $2500 (the listed preamps, not the kits) so it shouldn't be that bad.

Let me know how it turns out. I may buy one.

I think I might go ahead with it.

The only preamps I've got to campare it with is my Behringer MIC200 with 12ax7-EH valve upgrade and a crap Behringer mixer so it has to be a step in up from there.

I haven't used the specific kit you mention, but I have used the JLM99 discrete opamp. If you're going to do those baby animal kits, I HIGHLY recommend that you buy the discrete opamp version of the kit (with the JLM99 opamp). I haven't heard JLM's hybrid opamp, but it can't possibly be as good as their real discrete opamp.

That said, either version of this pre is going to absolutely kill your behringer stuff. You will be making better recordings with those mic pres.

Well the OPA2604 Opamp is a Burr Brown Op-amp so it should be Vert good quality as Burr brown Opamps are some of the best you can get....

I rescently aquired quite a few different Burr browns that I am going to use in some DYI Preamps I am Building....

Cheers
