Jeff Beck at the Concord Pavilion, August 1st

I saw Jeff Beck on Friday, August 1st at the Chronicle Pavilion in Concord, CA (a little north and east of San Francisco).

The band was Terry Bozzio on drums, Tony Hymas on keys, and Beck.

Set list included "Freeway Jam," "Savoy," "Brush with the Blues," "Big Block," "Roy's Toy," "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat," "Nadia,"
"People Get Ready," "Blue Wind," and a couple of songs from the new CD.

Beck absolutely smoked, he was as "on" as I've ever seen him. Several times he grinned like a happy kid at the sound that was pouring out the band.

Good....thats a relief, because last week or so I stayed up late to watch Jeff ( and BB King) on J leno's late night show.....and I was dissapointed - BB played his tired old licks and though Jeff was energetic and enjoying himself, his playing was too busy and his sound was not cutting through.....

...I've always been a Beck fan...

Just got the new CD Jeff (SONY/Epic Records)...

Just a cursory listen so far but it's great... highlights include the snarling lick on "My Thing" and the exquisite "Bulgaria."
