I've got a chance to pick up a pair of JBL 4208's for about $350 and a QSC 370 amp for about $200.

At one time the 4208's were considered almost a standard reference monitor and I thought the QSC was a good amp.

I have been thinking about Event 20/20's - but if I can get the 4208's at a decent cost it could be an option.

Any thoughts or input (specifically about the 4208's or the QSC) would be appreciated.

I havent used those models but those are both good brands so you probably cant go too wrong.

So did you buy the JBL's after all?
I'm asking because i'm considering them as well, but so far yours is the only post i've seen about them so far.

There is a club in Dallas called the Iguana Mirage. The place has amazing lights and sound. They have around 30 intellibeams and JBL's everywhere for a nice balanced sound anywhere you go.

They even have some JBL monitors, probably the 4208's, in the freakin bathroom!

cyrus, I waited too long and the JBL's were sold to someone else. Oh well, it was not meant to be.

JBL 4208's

I have two pairs of 4208's and I really like them. I push them(just 1 pair at a time) with an Alessis Reference amp and it has a full precise sound. I have an expensive turntable and phono pre-amp on them also and the amount of bottom end you get is suprising. Not too much bass; just full. You have to take the grills off 'though. They really affect the sound. Also they have a pretty small sweet spot. You have to have the tweeters right at ear-level. Seems like I just saw them in Musician's Friend for $350. If I didn't already have two sets, I'd buy another pair.
