I been building a small PA... its now down to the speakers, which are to be passives. (already have amps, delays and rack owned).

Stumbled across the JRX100 series, 12" $269 each, 15" $289 each.
Noticed some used ones around here, and GC at $170-$199 used/ each.
Not a lot of posts on them, everyone seems to discuss the EON series, with great praise for those.

I think the main needs are small size and very durable to being tossed around.
Sonically, they need to handle Punk/Alternative/Screaming (versus Soft crisp acoustic guitar type music)...

I also would like to think of the 12" versus the 15" JRX, the JBL sales say the 12" is either main, or can be a great monitor too, but the 15" is PA main. Any experience with 12" versus 15" ?

If the new are $289, GC sells them used for $175, that means GC offers about $90 each for used tradein value.
This low price makes me wonder what they're worth used and why?

After reading a lot of posts the JRX arent the EON, and alos coming back to reality from reading about Grammy Sized PA systems.... being a Craigslist addict, couldnt bring myself to buying used PA speakers after reading of all the blown tweeters and crossovers etc...

I picked up a new PA package $389...GC had 2qty PV PR12 passive speakers, 2 stands and 2 cables.
Like the 1qty Active Berhinger $229, no stands... I just tried out that need the lows removed,,
these PR12's passive need the bass rolled off, (and a eq preferred it seems).

These will be tried out in a few practice sessions. FIrst impression they are built for abuse and light. They are fairly small which is great.
First listening they sounded kind of flabby in the low end, and coincides with others recommending removing the bass out as much as possible. Maybe its my Yammie 10/2 and Digitech Delay and Carver making it less clear?
The Behringer was active and the SM57 went straight in, sounded good, but many say they dont last, tweeters blow (and needed the bass rolled off).

I'm no live sound guy, so I'm listening for audio quality KRK HR studio tones.. and its not there.
Its that PA box sound. But the band will have to try these out and decide.

Peaveys are known for being built in the US, being built like tanks.....and this is a critical fit for this band, who came back from the gig this weekend with a broken bass neck and a few frets knocked out !! some black and blue marks from a scuffle....

no ribbon tweeters for this crew.haha
