oh... thare is NO BASS just a bassy git

he play's the high and low lines at the same time like charlie hunter
this is not nearly the most complicated stuff he does

a little freq dependant compression and i think i've gone from no bass to too much bass. or maby just right, you decide.

It hasn't cleared yet. when you start a new account, soundclick makes you wait a day while they "clear" the material. they only do it once though, after this clears you'll be able to upload stuff and have people hear it immediately.

so uh, if I check in tomorrow I'll give it a listen.

I like that song, in particular I like the vocal line on the verses. It's a cool melody. The girl singing, is she new to singing? I mean, she's got a great voice. Reminds me a lot of Fiona Apple, who I love. But there are a couple of parts where it seems to me that she's just a tad off as far as the pitch goes. But it's not terrible, just something I noticed.

You wanted to know if it was maybe too bass heavy? Yeah, maybe. Perhaps just a tad. I've got a big sub woofer and it's pretty overpowering coming throught that. If I were mixing it I would probably try to dial it back a bit.

good ear on the vox, this is her first stint as a lead singer. i'm trying to resist turning the bass down (this is probably a mistake) hopeing mastering can reign it in.

oh and bump

I think It is probably my speakers but on my end it sould like vocals are a bit loud. Some of it is a bit off tune as well.

the vox volume falls under the "you could turn it down but you'll probably die of a strange accident" clause

that's two on the key of the vox. should i break out auto tune?
bump

thankx to all, but could i get some people i've heard of to tear me down?

For this genre the kick is generally felt more than heard - it's way too loud and seems too bassy - hurting my ears

one more try
(bump) :D

Sorry, dude. I've tried to play and/or d/l this song at least 10 times from soundclick and it's just not working. Funny, cuz I have songs there, too and they play just fine for me. I don't know what the deal is.

The kick drum is a bit out in front, but to me it sounds ok like that. I think you need at least one more instrument: piano maybe? I would take the boomy part of the guitar down a bit and add a bass. Just me, though. Nice song.

Can I ask why it would be impractical to break out some electric or maybe even acoustic bass on this? I really think that acousticly, and dynamicly the song could hugely benefit from a bass guitar. Hell, stand up bass would be super phat. That would take care of more than one problem. I do agree on the bass drum thing, but for a different reason. As it stands in the mix, I think it's fine, but because of the multiband compression that you used to try and thicken it, it brought out some woofyness that wasnt there before. Things I say do:

1) Get a real bass (preferably acoustic or stand up).
2) Get rid of the multiband compression.
3) Just run auto-tune as an insert and relax the tuning as much as possible. There are only a few slight things that it needs to correct.
4) Send it to a mastering house and I think you've really got a pro-sounding record.

Really, man, this thing sounds really good. I love the song as well. Hope all this helps.

the kid

I liked it, i would agree with the guy who said the vox were a little out at times, if you just punched in and did those again it would make it slighly better. I would say the bass is a little heavy, i have the eq totally flat and it still stood out a bit, so i would turn it down just a touch. i think adding a piano or something over it would be quite nice. just some arpeggios and chords just playing along high up on the keys would give it a finishing touch. Nice track though, i enjoyed it.

thanks to all
scrubs, thanks for trying anyway

ok, i think thare's a concensus on to boomy on the git, and maby a little less kik, and some very light auto-tune.

i'd love to put bass on this (the stand up is an excelent idea) but thats not "them"
not to mention it's mentioned to them so much (esp at gigs) that it's actually something that makes them defensive. it would take someone more impressive and authoritative then me to change thier mind on that one.

other songs have more parts, mostly though it is kinda a "spacous" project. :)

really, thankx
