JAMin/Ardour on Unbuntu Studio vs. Ableton Suite 8 on Windows as a Mastering Computer

I record and produce tracks on a Desktop machine in my garage and then proceed to master them using Ableton on this laptop. I've looked into the Ubuntu Studio distro and its usage of JAMin for mastering, but I currently don't have any *nix computer to test it on.

Has anyone had experience with both DAWs for mastering with some input on the situation? I'll either continue using Windows and Ableton or Ubuntu Studio if JAMin is indeed more powerful from a mastering aspect.

Ubuntu runs on standard Intel or AMD based systems.
Linux is really in it's infancy as far as DAW work is concerned. You can run some of these Linux systems, Ubuntu for one, as a LiveCD on your Windows machine to test it out.
Just boot the CD.
It won't touch your Windows hard drive unless you tell it to save files and even then it doesn't harm anything.
It's a good way to try out Linux without committing to anything.
