Ive been working on a metal tune today.. and unlike most of my other tunes... I got daring and dabbled into a little eq.
I never really messed with it before.. After reading those "All things EQual" Articles, I felt inspired.

I mainly tried to carve out a spot for the bass.

Am I any good at this s*it or should I just give up and pay one of you?

heh.

p.s. If you cant stand violent vox... you may want to lay off.. I cant sing so sometimes I just have to scream.

demensia.

I think the bass sounds really good. However, I found the guitar tone lacking. What did you use to record it? The drums get a bit repetitive after a while, but I think the vocals sound pretty cool.

You got some real interesting and cool sounds on some of the guitars. All those little lead parts were real nice additions. I liked the bass part too.

One general comment would be that the song is "all guitars."

The vocals are kind of muddy, fuzzy, and back in the mix. I couldn't hear much of them. In the verses, they're dominated by the guitars. When they're doing that "low growl", they're still unintelligible. Maybe that's what you want. I don't know.

The drums were getting crushed by the guitars too. I thought they were too quiet in the mix

A lot of those guitar prts are panned pretty hard. Overdone a bit I thought. They're bouncing around in my headphones a bit much.

Thanks, Ill try to fix the panning a little. The drums are a joke so i want them deep down in the mix.. They were only there for me to keep time.

Thanks for the input

Im using a digitec rp100.. thing sucks.

Demnsia,

I'm not going to restate any other observations, but I did notice a
bit of hiss at the beginning, and to me, the vocals sounded like
there was too much high mids, maybe around 3 to 4k, hard to say.
Maybe that's part of the style, I don't know since I don't normally
listen to this style, but i did like the moodiness of it.

Don't give up if you enjoy what your doing. I sometimes take myself
too seriously and strive for perfection, but I need to remind myself that
my music is a hobby, and I'm not making a living out of it. If you're
serious about making a career out of music, it wouldn't hurt to get a
professional to help improve your mixes.

Cool tune,I liked the way you came in with the rythm guitar panned right, nice touch.
Bass sounds good.

I kept waiting for an evil imp to jump out of the screen!:D

Good mix.

Best to you,
Pete

the only thing I can say is that the vox are kinda weak. But as you said you already knew that.

I don't really dig the growling thing, but that's just me.

Otherwise, the tune's pretty cool. Oh yeah, I don't like the drums either, but you said that was kind of a joke anyway.

Anyone feel like throwing together some drum loops? I am very lacking in my patience for them. Maybe It can sound like a real song.
