Right-click and select "save-as" once you've gotten to the URL; don't save the html file!
Great stuff as usual.
I've been looping it for a while and strumming along with Marilyn. I think an arpeggiated background drone track(s) to contrast with the rhythm track you've got will sound good.
The key here is to develop a rhythm pattern different from a straight sequenced arpeggiation that adds a counterpoint feel to the beats you've chosen to accent while accenting the ones you've chosen even harder.

When the guitar came in at 2:53 I got Pink Floyd'ed...and I liked it....vocals so fine...that thing you did right before the git came in was so cool..at first I thought it was strings real low in the mix, but it was a guitar, wasn't it...it could come up a bit there for my ears, 'cause it sounded good to hear the unexpected notes...great stuff...gibs

I really enjoyed this tune. I really liked the guitar intro and would've liked to have heard it reappear later in the song. Maybe as short fills in a verse, or as another layer when the song builds up to the outro.
just my humble opinion.

It sounds pretty good to my ears - I REALLY liked that lead playing - very tasteful!

Of the three songs of yours that I've now heard I have to say this one is my least favourite - I guess that's just a personal thing... but the vocals on this cut are way better!! They have that great mellow, airy kinda sound that fits the song just perfectly.

Great work!

I went back and listened to 'Feedback' just to make sure, and I'm happy to report that I was RIGHT! - this one's a clear step closer to pro. You haven't followed my advice about singing lol, but the vocal's *way* better. Is that because it's higher? The arrangement's tighter, the backing vocals are exactly right, and the drum changes at the end are really nice. I think drstawl's made a very good suggestion - I read his comment first, and then listened to the song, and heard what he was talking about right away ("straight sequenced arpeggiation"! Gimme a break, where does he find this stuff? :)), but I bet you'd rather try it on a different track.

Finally, who's singing backup?

drstawl: I think I get where your coming from with the arpeggiated, I'll try it.

Gibs: yes all guitars, no synth. There is a vocal that gets cut off there, maybe that's it.

Rhoadz: the lead thing at the start could be put at the end to, but not sure. Thanks for checking it out.

Cooperman: Thanks for the D/L. It is kind of a mellow tune, bit different than what I usual do. But maybe not.

Dobro: It is higher, I don't know if that's an easier range for me or not. The backups are 4 tracks of me.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to listen and comment! Appreciate it.

Listened again.

The mix: I like the sound of the bass a lot, but should it be louder?

The arrangement: I like the second acoustic that comes in halfway, and the long, long break that follows.

The playing: you on drums, or machine?

The vocals: I thought you had a girl on backing vocals! Use that sound.

The song: I really like the way there's so little rhyme in the lyrics - it creates space - very Canadian. I want to try this. Something else impresses me. I wrote out the lyrics - two verses and a refrain/chorus. And yet pushing five minutes in length - more space again. I often write way more lyrics, and yet the song's half as long. Okay, there's just me and guitar, but all the same. I'd like to learn this. Back to arrangements, I think.

Great sounding mix... very full, spacious, and even to me. Very nice tones throughout on everything too. I don't hear any problems with it at all on the first few listens.

Dobro: Maybe the bass could be louder, thanks I'll give that a shot. Drums are real, not me playing them though. As for the lyrics, I find it hard to write much down, so the shortness. I wanted to write at least a couple more lines per verse, but couldn't come up with anything - not really an intentional sparseness... just turned out that way. Thanks for the additional info.

Jon X: Glad you like it and thanks for checking it out!

I listened to it and really liked what I heard. Everything seemed to flow well... no complaints here. :)

Hey Dobro,

The drummer is Andrew Plant, he plays on all the recordings I post. I play everything else. I can play guitar better than you?? I'm not so sure.

BTW thanks Fishmed for listening to it.

Well, who's drumming then? And while we're dealing with credits, you can play guitar way better than me.

Very nice tune and good production too! Listening on my stereo at home, I thought the bass was loud enough. What is your recording-mixing setup?

Hey X,

Computer based, Aark 20/20, Cubase, Mackie 1402, event 20/20, NT1, 57's, 421's, D112, C1000's.

Thanks for d/l'ing!

I'm finally getting around to stuff stashed on my HD. I've had a couple of listens now, and I like this one a lot. Cool electric guitar tones, I liked 'em a lot better than the tones in Letdown. It sounds pretty good as is. I think the bass is loud enough, but some more bottom wouldn't hurt. I always say that, I should change my username to +3dB@80Hz.

Nice feel to it Emeric. A bit reminiscent of Supertramp (probably the vocal harmonies). I like the open tuned acoustic gits. To my ears spectral balance including bass is fine. Congrats!

Just listened to Feedback. Again I want to comment on your acoustic guitar playing--very nice and clean. Not too many players come across that clean. I don't care for the ringing snare but you're careful enough that you obviously went for that sound, so it's only a matter of taste. Just seems a little jangly against the acoustic guitars at the beginning (ok when the electric guitars hit). Nicely done overall, something you can be proud of.

Hi Tapehead,

Thanks for taking the time to listen. Never thought of any Supertramp connection, but you may be right. I am a big fan of theirs, and have listened to it to death. Saw them on there "last" tour. The one preceeding the other dozen that followed.

Acoustic guitars seem to be what I write on, so they tend to be what everything else is based around. I find though that it's hard to mix very well with this "style", always an acoustic strumming away in the background - Hard to find room for everything else.

Thanks again.
