Yo ChuckU!

I enjoyed the song. Love the sound of the bass, it's nice a punchy. But on my system between the bass & kick your getting some distortion. I think they're both to loud. I wanted to turn the song up but couldn't cause of the low end. It was worse thru headphones and almost uncomfortable.

I like the sound of the snare during the chorus but not wild about the way it changes for the verse, it sounds muddy. And I find when a sound changes that drastic it puts a huge focus on it for me, not in a good way.

Overall I think the sound & mix are pretty good!

Man I like the sound of that kick - what mic/placement and eq did you use? And just out of curiosity, what about the guitars?

Nice mix, Chuck! The auto-pan thing was making me dizzy, but everything sounds very good.

Shades of Pat Benatar - one of my favorite female rock singers. I listened twice, once on lo hi - then I downlaoded it to get a better listen. The song is good and the mix is good. But the panning sounds like everything is hard left/right or straight up the center. The lead could be panned inward to separate it from the rhytm guitar on the left side. That's just my opinion. I think the song might benefit from a few more changes, maybe some a bridge to help break it up. Buts it stands well as it is.

Vurt - you found me!

scodu,
I'm surprised you're getting the distortion. I'd like to hear if anyone else has had that problem and I'll redo the bitrate on the mp3. It seemed ok with my plays at home & work. I used a pick on the bass and we wrote the song around that pretty much. No pre. No DI.

The drums were sequenced (by the drummer) with a DrumKat into Cakewalk which triggered sounds on my drum module. In the studio, we used sound replacer on the kick and snare. (Different samples on the verse) So I can't take credit for mic placement.
Guitars: Direct from Digitech RP5 to the VS-880. No amp.
Vocals: Peavey HD-40 dynamic mic. Direct to the VS-880. No pre.

Thanks for the input

Sounds pretty damn good to me all the way around. Nothing to point at from me. Fantastic tune, engineered well. Great job!

Thanks Track Rat. Based on what I heard from your tunes, I value your comments. Please put your guitar tone in a box and send it to me.:D
