Hey, To everyone that had suggestions on trouble shooting my Crate...

It's fixed!!!! Thank you to one and all that gave me suggestions. It turned out to be one of the power transitors. The solder joints were sucky - I only had to resolder (actually just add solder to) the 10 pins. It's solid as a rock now. And it truly rocks now!!!!

As always, I am forever grateful to this forum for advice and information.

Thanks, Fusion.

So you went bowling? :)

10 pins? What kind of power transistor is that? Maybe it's an IC power amp, or a power amp module?

Anyway, glad it turned out to be a cheap fix, even if the defect was hard to pin:) down.

That was my reaction. If it had 10 pins then it's not a power transistor per se.
Maybe one of that 'amp-packs'? (amp in a chip)

please consider going back and redoing it... for best/long term results you want to remove the old solderfirst... then resolder... might seem like a trivial point but it wont be if it goes down in the middle of a gig...

Demented, You're probably right on with that. If fact after I put it all back together, I was thinking that I should have desoldered/resoldered like I did with the rest. Oh well.

This is only going to be used in my home office to noodle around with. Since it only takes 10 minutes to pull it apart, I'll get back to that someday.
