I just started my own home recording, and built a studio as well. (not that good, but it works)
I'm trying record tracks, and I'm getting this "live" sound.
How can get that sound they have on cd's....at least something close.
Don't have 250k for a full blown studio, but I'm sure I could make some improvements somewhere =)
Right now... Guitar track - Microphone is a Sure SM58. Sent to a mixer (Behringer mx 2004a). Settings on the mixers 4 band eq are all set to 0db.
From the mixer, It go's to the Echo Mia sound card and then cakewalk 9.
I've tried the compressor (which don't seem to work very well), and eq.
But I still get this "live" and "weak" sound. I'm looking for something more "bright" and "Clear", yet has full on presence.
Any tips at all welcome (go ahead...bash my equipment) =)
