Never Act Like U Know All
I Have to admit, I feel good. No, darnnnnnnnnnnnnn good. I have always barely had enough money to get by. Even with my wife working, somehow we were always paycheck to paycheck.

My settlement check from my car wreck finally cleared, and I finally went shopping.

I was being my usual cheap self, hey I'm Italian, what can I say.

I thought slow, hard and long about not duplicating I already have TOO much.

I chewed them down to practically nothing on everything I got.

I needed a mixing console BADLY because I was using a mackie 1202 with "Y" adapters to get more inputs...I know, I know ghetto... BUT, it worked.

So I picked up a Yamaha MG32 32 input console. Was $1250, got it for $1000.

Need a finger (drum) trigger pad. Got an Akai MPD24 for $150.00 vs $200.

Got my Motif Rack ES for $950.00 vs $1250 at the store.

Got a set of speaker stands for my Event 2020's for $70 vs $100

& all of it was tax exempt.

Plus I bought the 3rd 19" flatscreen for my setup. Tripple 19" lcd monitors.

Oh I forgot, I picked up my dream Wavestation SR online. Can't wait for it to come.

Total settlement check was roughly $8,000, I only spent $2900.

I think I'm back in the game. I haven't recorded anyone for hire in 3 years. Not since I had my house.

I finally feel complete and professional. I always had drips and drabs of good sounding stuff, but I feel confident of making good sounding stuff. Now it's up to my clients. I can make a darn good beat, but if they can't sing or rap, at that point it's not my problem. My anteras autotune can only go so far. And to my knowledge, there is nothing that can help people rad on-beat. I even had this retarded white guy rapper who was so offbeat, he started calling himself "The Offbeat M.C.". I suppose it was a good gimick, let people off the bat know you are gonna suck. However, his lyrics were pretty tight. So it kind of made up for the part of being offbeat.

Now the painstaking process comes of building furniture and re-setting everything up.

Guys thanks to that dumb chic that was high that hit me back in August, I wouldnt have been able to get my stuff today. Cheers to her.

Still cheaper than golf and loads more fun!

OH YES MY FRIEND, OH YES !!!

I am a bit ticked off, when I bought the desk, they didnt have it at the store I was at, so they sent me to go pick it up from another store. So I get there, and it closed early, like 3 hours early ! WTF ?

I called up the store I bought it at, and they said "OH YEAH, some of the sotres closed early today."

That would of been nice to know BEFORE(?) I drove up there! OMG! LOL

I was like a kid at christmas. I wanted SO BAD to at least get 1/3 of my studio set up tonight.

Oh well.

Patience is a virtue they say. But who are THEY anyway?

:(

I like those Yamaha boards, especially the bigger ones like yours. However, I find only four busses limiting, and much prefer eight busses. Are there any eight buss boards available new in that approximate price range?

So you got your Motif ES rack and Wavestation SR, both great sounding modules. I'm still going to recommend the Yamaha FS1R over the TX802 big time. I have both here in my studio and that's my advice. Just sayin....

I didnt see any 8 bus boards in that price range. I dont care too much about 8 bus though, I have my own way of handling bus-situations.

The board is clean and clear. Notibly(sp) used for live situations, but clean enough for studios.

I may even add another for 64 channels down the road.

Yeah Albert, I got the Wavestation SR comming in the mail, and the Motif Rack ES sitting in front of me as I type this.

It has been fun playing the Motif a few minutes ago, see, I bought the Akai MPD24 MIDI control pad trigger:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Akai-MPD24?sku=700812&src=3WFRWXX

I set the Motif to "HipHop Kit1" and was beating around on the pads on the Akai. I must say, the Motif kit's crispness along with the pads on the MPD24, REALLY felt like the feel of a MPC 1000, 2000 or 2000xl. It's N I C E ! ! !

I do wish they made a meter bridge for the Yamaha MG32 though.

I still want to chk out the yamaha fs1r. I have to say though, the dx7's and tx802s are a bit noisy, however to me, te fit great in a mix. Listen to most of 80's & early 90's r&b. I mostly want the tx802 & my tx81x for basses and mostly EP's. Especially ep's.

Silly question - don't you still need a car to replace the wrecked one?

The EP's in the FS1R kill the TX802. Basses are great too. It's very clean and quiet, and just sounds great. Of course it will cost you more than a TX802, but I think it's worth it.

Congrats, sounds like fun.

I get to do a lil shopping spree next week. Gonna get Drumkit from Hell, Korg TR61 and a new mic. ;)

Sounds good.

And, the "high" chic who hit me, her ins paid to get my car fixed.

And let's not forget about those formant filters on that thing... OMG it is capable of such beautiful pads! I want an FS1R :o
