Issues with a Toshiba SD-V296KU and TDK T-160 tape

I just purchased both new to record a 4 hour special via Direct TV (SyFy) and not sure which is bad with it. The first 2 hours were perfect. By the 3rd snow was jumping up intermittently (could hit rewind and play and it would be ok for a few). By the 4th hour I could barely see the show - colors all over the place, jumping around. Tracking didn't help - nothing helped with it at all. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue and looking to find if I should return the Toshiba for something else or buy another tape?

Wow, I didn't know anyone used VCR's anymore. If you want to record a specific show thee are a lot of solutions out there for recording direct to your computer. I think that would be a better option. Or get a recording DVD player with a burner built in.

BTW, this forum is more for musicians recording audio.
