I recently bought a cheapo MXL 990 and the first couple of applications seemed to work good for the price....But since then the mic is doing something puzzling....
While the mic is on it will be clear, after several seconds (15 secs or so) a low rumble will start as if someone was breathing in it. It will gradually get more steady....then it comes to a head with my line level peaking out (very quick) and red clip light blinks and then it goes queit again...then it repeats this process....
*Have tried diferent cables...

xlr cable
MXL 990
IE: The shotgun 991 that came with it does not seem to have this issue.
Any input would be helpful, and I do understand the concept "you get what you pay for"....Ha
