I know there is a glut of chinese made micro-dudes out there and some of them are alright and some aren't.
Anyone got any dirt or first hand experience with these ISK microphones-I think they're UK based.
They seem to have a rather large catalog for a company that might be awful. Plus they are very cheap......
(again might be awful)....tempted.

I'm interested at least. They look nice! Now's not the best time for exchange between usd to gbp. Well not for me at least.:)

Who's gonna take the dive and start the mod's?!

Hi..I am Craig Wild the owner of Wild Distribution who are sole distributors of iSK Microphones in the UK.
Our microphones and mic related products are of an extremely high quality for the price you pay.
They are manufactured in China and have gained a good reputation in Asia for extremely good sonic performance and high quality control and testing proceedures. We also thoroughly inspect and test every mic inported to ensure we have no comebacks.
Our products are available through our main UK dealer: micsdirect, who sell via ebay and their .com website.
We shall shortly be anouncing further European Dealers.
We have a close relationship with the main Chinese Company and are fully behind what we believe is a fantastic product especially compared with the over-inflated cost of many manufacturers.

Bump!

So someone works for them, cool
anyone USED them?

I have not been able to find any prices.....anyone else have any luck?

So, distributor googles his own product, finds a mention of it here, JOINS THIS FORUM FOR THE SOLE REASON OF SHILLING HIS WARES, and expects us to dance wild in the streets because he sells such wonderful stuff.

Geech.

I've only really seen them on ebay, a seller store called
Micsdirect I think........
Maybe because we're all on this thread, Craig, you'll send us
all isk mic's to review?

Thank you for your comments! I joined this forum to give you more information about iSK mics, after all, isnt that what forums are about! You always get one in a forum!! sb.
Our mics, stands and accesories are available from micsdirect who sell on ebay and also on their .com website. They also have a demo studio in Redhill Surrey, where you can purchase in person.
We chose to have only one dealer in the UK to prevent discounting which trashes the price of many mics resulting in poor customer service from the dealer. Micsdirect has a good reputation and are doing extremely well with our product.
At the present time we cant get enough product to supply the demand but will be submitting items for reviews in the new year.

...You always get one in a forum!! sb...

Call me out if you wish, but the facts speak for themselves- we heard nothing at all from you prior to this thread- zero post anywhere else on homerecording.com, and no unbiased reviews of your stuff. We would be fools to accept you obviously biased opinion of iSK mics as fact.

And boriscrispin has a point- maybe you should provide some mics to some people here, for evaluation. Now, personally, I am probably not the best person for that- I lack the past experience, and upcoming opportunity, to really give the mic a good workout- but there are others who probably are better for that than I. I would suggest Light, and Muttley600- or my pro-recording engineer son and his studio in New Orleans. (and yeah, I'm shilling his place- seems to be perfectly okay, at least in this thread...)

It basically comes down to this: Put up, or shut up.

I'd be interested to hear whether these are simply rebadged Chinese catalog items, or if they represent unique combinations of components.

The ribbon mics are almost certainly identical to more-familiar items. The RSM-3 ribbon, for example, matches the specs for the Apex 215. Other lookalikes for this flat, rectangular dual-ribbon design include: ShuaiYin SYR50 (likely the actual original model), Alctron HRM-14, Avant CR-14, and even the TnC ACM-4.

(Of course, all these Chinese ribbons are the same underneath; of all imported mics, expect to find the least difference among the ribbons.)

The C12 knockoff, called the ISK TM-68B, looks like a ShuaiYin SYT-1200 / Alctron HST-11A / Apex 460 / etc.

None of this is to suggest that these products are in any way inferior to anything else. The price/performance ratio on all these Chinese mics is phenomenal. I just like knowing what I'm getting, and with rebadged mics, it can be difficult to know if there's any value-add from the importer.

Thanks for your reply recordinghacks.
iSK microphones are not re-badged mics. iSK have their own factory in China producing all the mics and components and have QA and test facillities. Until recently they have only been available in Asia. A few of the mics (the ones mentioned) do bear a resemblence to other mics but are not the same. The RSM-3 has the same shape but the body is completely different. The TM68B is a AKG C12 copy obviously. The iSK items that are re-badged are the mic floor stands and cradles + pop shields.
I expect most of the Chinese microphone manufacturers use the same metal bashers for housings / grilles etc. so there will always be similarities between all the manufacturers but that does not always mean they are the same microphone as is the case with iSK.
You can view all the products at iskmic .com
As I mentioned before, we are waiting for a shipment to arrive so product availability is low at the moment.
I am willing to provide review mics (Sound 0n Sound etc) but my company is only small so not many will be available. Like everyone else...I do need to pay the mortgage!

I bought one

I think for the money it is a great mic, done heeps of recording before and worked with many bands in some of the worlds best studio and it sounds very good in a pc based recording set up. I would like to A B between an expensive version. A mic at this quality for under a £100 its probably the cheepist thing in the set up but best value. I bought via the web from the redhill guys good service from them too (as a brit linving in France coms and postage were fine)

I just wish I had bought 2

I just thought I would say which mic I bought ....BM700

(looks just like a Telefunken U47....zappa)

... interesting.

interesting how? like bangsandcrashes just happened to join one month after craig, just happened to point out his location far away from the company rep, and all for the apparent sole purpose of touting one of the idk mics?

interesting indeed.

very well could be a coincidence, but i smell a salesman with an alias.

Yeah, not to mention the whole impressive-yet-awfully-vague run down of his past recording experience...

"...done heeps of recording before and worked with many bands in some of the worlds best studio..."

lol yeah i caught that part too.

I looked at the site.
Some of the mics looks interesting, but there are no prices mentioned to even raise any interest.
If they are priced similar to "group buy" type mics I'd be interested.
I have some "nicer" project studio type mics ( TLM-49 ,Modded T-3, AT4033) and the typical roundup of good / inexpensive (Cad E-100, MXL V67, SP B-3) plus some small diaphragms (MSH-1s, Oktava MK012s, ACM310s, Kel HM-1s) , I be glad to compare them to.

you paranoid lot..... The reason I have only just joined is, I was looking to find out more about the mic (I bought) as I was so pleased with it and found the forum, thought I would give you some info........but I see the remarks I think its a bit of a shame do want a name dropping history about my past experence it still would not tell you about the sound of the mics......I said I was using the mic at home in a pc based set ie cubase etc I still say the mic was a good buy @ 60 quid
