Dr. Frink: I predict that within 100 years, computers will be twice as powerful, 10,000 times larger, and so expensive that only the five richest kings of Europe will own them.

Apu: Could it be used for dating?

Frink: Well, theoretically, yes. But the computer matches would be so perfect as to eliminate the thrill of romantic conquest.

being put on technology instead of fundamentals?

I would definately say yes, but without the advances in technology my $15k or so I have invested in the studio wouldn't add up to much as far as quality gear goes. So I think that with all the crazy technology the sport is becoming more accessible to folks so we can start learning the fundamentals. And places like this forum are an offshoot of the technology that is helping reinforce those fundamentals. I guess that's my optimistic outlook on it.

pessimistically; there's a lot of shit being made by folks that don't have a clue that just want their shit to be as loud as the new Black Eyed Peas single. Some folks could care less for the fundamentals and just want the technology to do the work for them.

I see alot of talk about technology in guitars. I for one have always just picked em up and played, never once thinking this could be better with these pickups or that whammy or that amp etc.

oh.. my bad... I should've realized this was in the guitar forum.. here I am talking about recording gear.

I agree dragon, There are certain guitars I like using for certain types of songs or whatever, but I've never been one to customize my guitars. I guess I don't have much technical prowess when it comes to that so I'd be lost anyways trying to install a new humbucker or something.

I guess it's just like moddin' microphones too. Some people just like to rip stuff apart and tweak it out and put it back together again, and then hear that difference. Others , just take a product for what it is.
