Just wanted to add a little note for anyone looking for V8's. The original series were made in the USA and are pretty good monitors. When they stopped making them in the US, and started "Series 2" they went to complete crap. KRK used to be a highly respected manufacturer, now they are a GC supplier of "budget' gear. That's fine if that is what you are looking for, but the two are worlds apart.........

Am I a dupe for digging my Series II V4's?

IMHO after listening to the KRK V4 original and the V4II I found the original to be far too warm with a broad rise in response around 200 HZ and little real low end response. Male vocals sounded esp thick and unnatural. The V4IIs are clearer, flatter and go deeper - an improvement all around.
I don't think the V6 II and esp the V8 II were improved as definitively as the V4 II. The recently introduced KRK VXT4s have a lot of low end for thair size, and sound clear and full, but I havent had a chance to really evaluate how useful they would be as monitors.

did you try them side by side or at different times? Did you try them in the same room (like the demo room at a guitar center or some such?)
