So I've finally decided to get rid of my digi001 and get something that actually works well with my pc.

I've come across the oppurtunity to trade straight up for a motu 2408 mk ii.

opinions?

I guess my question would be, in your opinion, who is getting the better side of the deal on this trade?

Whoever offered to trade is getting the better side of the deal.

He is getting what he wants, you are getting what he doesn't want.

...unless by some dumb luck you were looking for that.

I'd say that's a pretty fair trade, as long as you don't mind switching software programs. What problems were you having with the digi001 and your pc? (I've heard people have some problems getting set up with a pc/motu rig as well).

basically i just couldn't get protools le running well on my computer. so i've been using the digi001 with sonar 3. i just figured i'd go with an interface that was actually meant to do this!

Have you exhausted all of your recources? Someone could get pro tools running for you. It is a complicated program that is very hard to set up, but once you got it running you would be glad you didn't trade. The software is the best part, the digi is just the interface.

if i had a mac i would go with protools in an instant, but it just doesn't work well on pc. i'm very happy with sonar though. so i'm sticking with it.

I had a 2408 MkII and had a wonderful time with it. So wonderful i upgraded and bought a 2408mk3

Too me it is the better deal. :)

More potential inputs than the 001.

heck with 3 of the 8channel mic pres with adat optical out you got 24 channels of mic input. :)

001 Cant beat that.

Plus to me the 2408 sounds warmer.

Hey-

I've used several motu's in various combinations with ZERO problems - And, I had a question for Motu once, and it was answered in 24 hours.

Running an 828mkII right now, and it's fantatstic.

The only good thing about digi is it's more "standard". Howver, i don't see the problem switching platforms - just look at mix contest #3 in the MP3 mixing form. Recorded on an apple/digi I believe, and mixed on atleast 30 different setups without much trouble.

NL has hit it on the head. All you have to do is make sure your files are prepped for universal useage.

basically make sure that every audio track starts at the SAME point.

well basically i never even recorded anything in protools because after months of playing around with my setup with no success i just gave up and went back to sonar.

the software is probably great, but it was just too demanding for my system. maybe someday when my band is huge i'll get myself a g5 and a sweet tdm setup... but until then........
