This is the first of three songs in 17 East's press kit, is this ready can I move on to the next ?

The song in question is Daunting demise

Hi

I like the song a lot. The vocals fits well the style of the song. There is a bit of "The Cure" spirit in there.

Nice work,

/Jack Real

Dan,

The mix sounds great to me. I love your drumming. Very cool lyrics on this one, too. The real question is, "Is the world ready for 17 East?" :)

sounds like your influenced by jeff buckley a bit?

nice tune, your influences?

jeff buckley?

Jack, thanks for listening and the kind words.

Chris, Thanks man, from you that means a lot. But yeah, the worlds ready.

Antho, MY influences?? Hmmmmm, well I didn't write this song, but my drumming influences are Ritchie hayward, Mitch Mitchell and Ed Thiigpen. Maybe a little Zig Modeliste.

System, What do mean by specs? The tone settings ? the Signal chain

wow, ace.

the electric guitar has a tad too much reverb for my taste. (same goes for lead guitar of the other song on your site)

still sounds great tho. especially the bit at the 3:30min mark.

you should add some reverb to the snare like you did on "Still Cold Blowing Breeze". it would totally fit. (slightly 80s sounding)

it sounds alot like jeff buckley.

Yeah singing sounds quite Jeff Buckley. song has a kinda Radio head feel to it at the end.
Sounds like a real good mix.
I agree with the "too much reverb" comment.
All in all a professional sounding mix and a nice tune.

Excellent tune - but I agree maybe too much reverb.
Personal fav parts - the drums and lead guitar (very tasty) but everything else is also well done vocals/rhythm/bass :D .
Maybe remix with a bit less reverb and let us know when it's ready to review.

For the mood, I disagree on the reverb. I like the....logic brain tells me mandolin, ear brain tells me I hear percussive nuances of a banjo equalized cleverly...anyway, cool tune. What stands out to me as a crit is the harmony vocal. On key, mind you, but out of time when the two should marry. Mainly during the verses. Other that that, it sounded like a wonderful production to me.

Thanks all, I almost agree there is too much reverb on the lead, he may be retracking anyhow, but the heavy reverb is kinda his signature sound. There are a few nits I found and/or had pointed out at the other place, so I'm working up another mix with clearer Vox, a bit more bass and rhythm git, and a bit less lead git and more consistent levels.

Seeker--did you listen to Daunting Demise or Still Cold Blowing Breeze? Your comments seemed more appropriate to SCBB, that's the one with the Mando.

The lead's tone needs a little more upper end, drums are sounding alright.

I think I'm hearing some drum fill distortion around the 1:25 mark, and again around 2:45, could just be me though.

Sounds like the bass and kick drum are conflicting. I'm getting a muddy sound through computer speakers and monitors.

Vocals are interesting. Very unique sounding voice, at least to me. Clarity of lyrics lacks a bit, but that's not a major deal at the moment.

The song itself is alright. I liked it.

Very interesting feel to the song. I like the way it's put together. Nice tempo. Maybe some of the artifacts the others are speaking of could have come from the MP3 compression. I'ts 128k, and there is actually a lot going on sonicly in this song. Maybe the compression has distorted the song a bit.
I like the way it has a sort of wash in the verb sounds. Don't know what you really intended on this tune, but I like the feel myself. Nice guitar playing too.
Good all around song.

Ed

Okay so I couldn't leave it alone,

But now I think it's about as good as this hack is gonna get it.

Daunting Demise, check it out.

Afew peeps thought I should have the lead git retracked but the band is all good with it, that's his sound.
