I just figured out how to make the audigy 2 record 6 inputs using the kx asio driver. I am going to be recording a church band every once and a while so 6 inputs would be very handy. But when I am at home, I don't need 6 inputs. I would rather use my audiophile 2496 for recording my own stuff. But since Sonar cannot use multiple sound cards when asio is used, I need to switch back and forth from the two set ups. Is there any easy way to do this? Or do I have to use the wave profiler and switch the drivers each time?

Not overly familiar with the Audigy, but I'll bite... HOW??

If you're talking using SPDIF, doesn't the signal needs to be digitized first. How are planning to digitize the signal?

You should have two Line Ins, which will convert A to D. You also have a Mic In (which I hope you aren't using, since then you'll be using the Audigys' pre's).

So enlighten us.

THe card itself as a line input (1/8"). Then the drive has a auxilary (RCA) and a line input #2 (1/4"). Without the kx drivers, windows only allows recording from one, but some how the kx drivers allow you to use them simultaniously. I messed around with it this morning and it is true, 6 channels.

But now I have run into some problems. Since enabling ASIO for the Audigy, my old .bun files won't run. They were recorded at 41k and the audigy ( because of the kx) can only do 48k. Maybe this is the problem. So I started tinkering around and now sonar will only see my audiophile in asio. I'm stuck and cannot figure out how to revert back to the audigy.

What drivers were you using before? WDM?

If you are running Windows Xp you might try "rolling back" the drivers on the Audigy in Control Panel.

Then switch Sonar back to WDM mode.

If you need to, try disabling the Audigy in Sonar until you can get the Audiofile recognized using WDM drivers. Then try re-enabling the Audigy.

I think I fixed it. I unstalled the kx drivers and installed a previous version. It turns out that I had the beta version so I went and got the latest full release.

So now back to the original question about switching between the two setups. Here is how I did it:

For asio recording using 6 channel audigy: under audio options I choose asio.

For recording with audiophile I just choose default.

For each of the setups,I enabled the right ins and outs that I wanted available then exited. When I restarted Sonar, they were still there as I left them. then i switch to asio, close and reopen sonar, and to my amazement the asio settings are still there.

Just for good measure, I went back and forth between the two several times and each time it worked. But as we all know, even though it works now, it might not later so I will keep you up to date.
