Is this even worth thinking about?

Alright I've got this little bass combo that i use sometimes, the main reason I love it so much is the distortion. Im a big fan of distorted bass and I find it extremely hard to find a good overdrive sound. So i was thinking, what if i tured it into a head, bought a poweramp and a cab? could this work? I honestly cant think of why it wouldnt. Any thoughts?

Does it have a direct out on it? If it does you could just go out of it into the PA, or just mic the combo.

I'm assuming you're talking about for live applications.

I wonder if you did that whether it would still have the killer sound you want. You're talking about making some fairly character-changing modifications.

Well, it already HAS a power amp, and you certainly don't want to go from that into another one. Very Bad Things would follow. However, if you wanted to hook it up to a larger speaker cabinet, providing that it had the same impedence, you would certainly get more volume out of it. It is worth a try, though I would probably just set the one you have on top of the cabinet.

thanks. i shouldve mentioned that this is a very small amp. probably meant for practice, but i just cant get over how the distortion sounds. what about turning it into a stompbox just for the distortion channel. ive read about that somewhere, ill find it again and read up on that. thanks guys.
