Ok, tried to install new drive and move everything over from old drive, didnt work kept getting errors.... sooooo....
I formatted the new drive and put a clean install of windows XP on it. Now I have no old files on it. Is it cool to install the old drive at the same time (both have XP on them now) and then just, I guess drag the files I want off the old drive over to the new one? Or should I just burn a DVD and do it that way? DVD sounds safer.

Is there any real reason to install the service packs? I never have and I've been flawless for 2 years. I guess that means I should leave wel enough alone. I will be installing a firewire card tomorrow if that makes any difference. There is some kind of problem with firewire and SP2 from what I hear.
Thanks

Dragging your files over to your new HD is fine. But dont try to drag over installed programs, jsut reinstall them on the new drive.

You should install the latest version of Win Xp which includes SP2. Some software will not load unless you have SP2 installed. Many people using Soundblaster Audigy with an outboard interface with Win XP w/SP2 and no problems and that setup uses Firewire.

Yes it's ok to do that. I have my computer set up that way. It's nice because if you have a problem with windows on one drive you can go into the bios and boot from the other drive.
