i'm just looking to record basic drums/guitar (acoustic too)/bass.

Shure SM57 (1)
MXL 603s (2)
AKG D112 OR Sennheiser 421

Is this is good minimal 4 mic setup? I'm recording mostly rock but sometimes soft rock. I just hope that the 603s can pick up my toms as well. And which mic would be better for use with a kick and bass amp, the D112 or 421? I wanted to get the mc-012s for OHs but i'm worried about buying them from GC or ebay unless they are matched and from soundroom they get kind of pricey or is that not even a big deal if they aren't matched? thanks

Yo Diet!- That should work fine, although I prefer the Oktavas as overheads. For what you're doing, I'd probably get the 421 and put it on snare. D112 will work fine for kick, but I would consider Audix D6 instead. They're hard to find used though, because they haven't been around that long.-Richie
