I have put my recording rig up for sale on places like craigslist and kijiji , I have a firm price of $ 3500 and was wondering if Im somewhat overshooting the price. After looking it all I am selling and doing my math I think I am.As well Im offering to even come and set up the system and offer 8 hours of instructional use which adds up to some type of dollar amount I would guess. Il put the exact add that I put up and you guys let me know if the price I have up there is fair or what you think it should be. Im in Canada so keep conversion in mind.

Full Recording set-up

This set-up has almost everything you need to start making quality recordings for demos and project recordings.Just get yourself some XLR's and a mic (preferably) many , and start your creations.

This is the first system I ever started using , it took a long time to learn but the results I am getting out of it now are impressive.I need to upgrade my current recording situation and sadly that means I need to let go of some of the gear that has helped me create so much music.

I have all of the original boxes and manuals

It uses a scope creamware project 6 DSP card.It is a card designed in germany which offers up to only 4ms of latency .That means you can essentially run your mics through a monitor with effects on them and record at the same time. The system can be routed literally thousands of different ways resulting in numerous recording options.

Also , the Analogue / Digital converter designed for the card is also included (ultra 16 AD) It offers 16 outputs at 44.1 – 96.6 Khz .The AD/DA is connected through fibre optic cables.

As well , a behringer ADA 8000 is also included. It is an 8 channel AD/DA offering digital conversion up to 48.8 Khz.

So in total there is the ability to input 24 Seperate channels into your DAW (I suggest Sonar)

The mixer is a Soundcraft Spirit FX 8 channel mixer.Description as follows ;
8 mono channels with high quality UltraMic™ pre-amps
4 stereo inputs
4-bus architecture, with sub-group routable to mix
Direct outputs from channels 1 to 8 for multitrack recording
Direct outputs can be switched globally pre- or post-fade
Inserts on all mono channels
Inserts on stereo mix bus
3-band 'British' EQ with swept mid-band
Stereo 18dB/octave 100Hz high-pass filter to cut stage rumble
+48V phantom power
Channel On switch fur Mute control
10-segment tri-coloured metering
Two sub-group outputs
Separate mono sum output

The mixer has seen alot of use and it is something I truely am going to miss , the rear PSU plugin is loose which is not a big deal .As well the headphone monitor jack is loose (I will probably fix by the time I sell) Of all the gear , the Spirit is my most favorite , the preamps are really good for a mixer , as well there are on board lexicon effects which are amazing!!

Finally there is my pride and joy which is my specifically built computer to run the system.I went through three systems before I made one that I really enjoyed working with.I built it all myself and parts are as follows.
Antec Sonata 2 case – Quiet
Asus P5K Motherboard running 2gigs Sli Ready Ram
Huge Zalman cpu fan which is superquiet
ATI Radeon 2400 HD graphics card with dual monitor support (I suggest using two)
Samsung Dvd burner
Heat pipe integrated into board for chipset cooling.

With the package I am also offering to bring the setup to you and set it all up and make sure it is running. As well , I am offering an 8 hour hands-on training to make sure that you will fully understand the massive capabilities of this system.

With that said this next section is for home recording enthusiasts who have dealt with these types of systems before

Im assuming whoever is reading this has some recording experience and I wanted to touch on the subject of how this system is a truely “analogue and digital” at the same time.I will explain roughly how I have it set up.

Here is an example of how I would set up the system.Dedicate a pre-amp output to the spirit and make it a dedicated channel make sure unity gain is set. Then fill the reat of the channels with your mics for the project (which would be 7) This mixer has direct outputs(DO) which are amazing , those (DO's) would then go the Ultra 16 converter and a fibre optic cable running to the scope card. Now you have 8 seperate channels that can be recorded independantly (Perfect for drums)

The behringer already has pre amps on it so you can run 8 tracks into that and send those to the creamware card as well , now all of a sudden you can record 16 tracks at once!!

Because you have so many routing options within the scope platform you can then take those sounds and route them to an analogue output (more than likely to your monitors) .But you can also send up to 16 tracks back OUT of the ultra AD converter to send to a dedicated mixer. This can go on and on but it is just an example of the possibilities that are available.

Hopefully I have explained the full potential of this system. It really has helped me learn and become better at this art.I felt it was time for an upgrade and to pass this system along to someone who has the desire to learn.I really am going to miss this system , as we all will see , learning a new system is never easy but the results far outway the work.

I will list what it is up for sale once again ;

Scope Creamware Project DSP card (6xDSP) www.creamware.com
Scope Ultra AD/DA 16 converter
Behringer ADA 8000
Soundcrafts Spirit FX 8 with lexicon effects
Home made built P.C specifically made for this system
Cables and patches
I will set up the system for you and make sure things run smoothly for you
8 Hour instructional training.

$3500.00 absolutely firm

In comparison to a pro tools system this system actually can rival it , especially if HD space is upgraded.I am not leaving my HD's in the system due to licensing and all that jazz (I want to keep my software and all that).
==========================================================
Let me know what you guys think I should kepp/change , essentially I hope it is someone that is in the same mindfram as many of us here that buys this. Its more of an intermediate system to learn but I really am going to miss it.I just want to make an honest price and not have anyone think they are being miss-led.

Thanks for reviewing !!
Cheers

The music you hear on that was recorded with this system

At that ticket price, most people are looking to purchase one or two pieces of higher end gear.

Most beginners start small and buy small.

If you really want to move your gear, I suggest selling everything individually. It breaks the costs across multiple buyers, and they can buy only what they really need for their current setups.

I agree, trying to sell this much gear together never works to your advantage, unless you just want to dump. You'll never get anywhere near full resale value on this stuff if you try to sell it all together. The only people interested in buying a big bundle are people who are looking to get an amazing deal.

And even then, they turn around and make a small profit selling the indvidual items they don't want for a price you could have gotten for it.
