is there anyway to use a firepod with my motu 828mkii?

bassicly my friend is working in my studio and hes giving me his firepod. is there anything i can do with it? besides just use the preamps? is there a way to daisychain that and my motu?

The 828mkII has S/PDIF I/O, right? Just route the S/PDIF output of one to the S/PDIF input of the other, and set that second device to use S/PDIF for the sync source.
