Still looking for some input

Im honestly looking for new and other ways of promoting, is this the marketing your music/publicity topic or what .
Anything,please
my post has been here a few days, and I haven't had the first response, yet when someone post something you don't like , as opposed to someone looking for a little extra help, the people here, are ready to give them a piece of their mind and voice thier anger, rather than giving support and helping someone in need.

maybe I'll get a response now
however I doubt it will about what im asking for, my guess it will be about the tidbit I just wrote.
I could be wrong though.
so lets see a reply!

Thanks
oh... don't forget to give us a listen http://www.mp3.com/masquemusic and let me know what you think!

Nah.. I won't reply in regards to the second post.....

But, about your first post... I don't think you need any input... You seem to already be a master of self promotion!....

2 plugs in one post.... This makes people question your motives....

Thats probably why you weren't helped..

If you seriously wanted help, I feel you would have just posted the questions...

I don't really care about spam, but this shit pisses alot of people off...

Now, I have a few things to explain to you about your second post, including the reason why it doesn't help you make many friends around here, but you are expecting a reply to that one, so I won't

I like to keep the suprise element.

The second link would have fit quite nicely in the MP3 clinic.. Try it there.... But it might be too late...

Like I stated before

I am new to posting, and Im damn sure no master, Im just trying to promote my band! this is the thing I am refering to, How is one supposed to learn something they know nothing about, if they don't ask questions. You see I want to promote my band honestly, and not piss any one off. and as to my second post ,
I was a little fustrated, because I am try to learn something here and trying to find help, but no one seems to be willing to share ideas,on different ways of promoting on the net.

Is this not the marketing your music topic or not!
However if I have offended some of you please accept my apology!
and I see nothing wrong with adding a link to my site.
Located here http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/124/masque1.html
as It shows that I am truely proud of the music that we make! and I do not force anyone to click on it

Hmm.. your band sounds very good. Perhaps a but too much like Stone Temple Pilots, at least in the singing. But still, you guys rock!

Marketing wise, you're in the same boat as the rest of us. Once you put your music on the net, no big label is going to touch you. You may get an indie label to sign you, but that will be tough as well.

Internet marketing is very tough. At mp3.com if you're not prepated to spend some money (at mp3.com) to advertise your band it's probably not even worth putting music up there.

If you're stuck in do-it-yourself-land like me, the only thing you can do is link exchanges, post your music on as many sites as possible, get a real website with your band's name. Get a mailing list started going. Save up some money and start advertising your band on the web. Try to get radio play at some college stations. It will take a long time for anything to happen, if at all.

Market your first cd yourselves, but since you guys DO sound very good, take your 2nd cd to an indie label first, don't market anything on the web until you have exhausted the indie labels. If all goes well, your 3rd cd may have a chance of getting picked up by a bigger label. Plus by then you will have learned alot about the business. Think long term succes, not short term and you'll have a better chance of succeeding.

Thanks for the input, yeah we are stuck in do it your self-land as you are. Though im not looking for that pie in the sky record deal, if that is to come, I know im going to have to have had at least a minimum 10,000 cd sold before they even look/glance at us.

I'll have to look into link exchanges, again thanks as this is what Im looking for different ways of promoting, we are in the process of getting a real website, and we have started a mailing list, mainly just trying to get people to listen to us right now, not so worried about selling cd's, because I know cd sales will come eventually.
Thanks

Cool... a bit like STP... but I can live with that...
have you gone to taxi.com ? They offer many advice for musician anyway...

BTW, Wellcome to the forum... :D

Hey my old band was almost killed by the Stone Temple Pilots when their tour bus ran us off the road in columbus ohio last year!

Hi wselby... I think I might have some ideas and suggestions that will help you promote your band online... I tried e-mailing you through mp3.com's contact thing... but I don't know if that worked... mp3.com tends to be flakey so I thought I would post this messge as well.. e-mail me if you want more information.

killer book

It takes time, but you can promote yourself on the net very well.
Get reviews. Interact with other bands. Word of mouth is the biggest thing in the world.
I cannot tell you how many records I bought because a friend (or reviewer) I trusted said it was kickarse.
A cool book is called "How to Successfully Promote Your Music on the Internet" by David Nevue.
It's at http://www.rainmusic.com and really cuts to the chase about what does and what doesn't work on the internet.
There's quite a bit in there about MP3.com, as well.
Stay Free!!
Gratefully,

You appear to be doing a killer job of promoting as it is!!

hmmm...

Thanks for all the input, Mountainmirrors the book is very good, the rest of the band freaked out at all the good stuff in it!

I guess one of the main things I've learned so far, is to be constant in what your doing, so that's what im doing
thanks again all
Masque

P.S
Voxvender, thanks for the spark! as I am also very new to forums,
Take Care
