I was thinking of using our 2 aardvark q-10's for an upcomming live recording session we are doing as well as doing the live mix for the pa with them. Is there any way to use a laptop as remote to control the pc so I can leave it by the stage and sit in the middle of the venue and mix the show?

If both PCs are running XP Pro and are on a WiFi network you can set your desktop to be controlled by your laptop. There was an excellent step-by-step article on how to do this and I'll be damned if I can recall where I saw it.

Bdgr seems to be pretty happy in this thread, maybe you can ask him on how to set up the stuff, if you've got questions.

EDIT: obviously, Polaris knows about this stuff as well...
Sorry Polaris, I didn't see your post, 'cause I didn't refresh the page before I posted the second time.:)

PC Anywhere can do it thru modem or network.

If you have a really long run, you can use coax and combo NIC cards on both ends. If you have a short run, most likely, I don't remember the limits, but for 2 PC's you just need a cat5 twisted pair crossover cable, or you'll need a hub w/ regular cables, but that's more complicated than you need for 2 nodes.

Then there's wireless, but that's a box of junk I'd rather not....

True, PC Anywhere can do it. But because the XP remote stuff is "built in" to the OS, it works better and faster than PC Anywhere. It's also more stable. And it's free (if you have XP Pro).

I have a walk in closet with wall to wall clothes that I'd like to track acoustics in (no wall reflections).

I could do that with a fair sized XLR cable and 802.11b with my Gateway.
