Is there a way to bring down the volume of all midi tracks in Cubase LE at once?

I just got a Firebox and am trying to learn Cubase LE so I a loaded a few midi tunes into it so I can play around with vocal recording. THe problem is that all of the midi tracks are so freaking loud that I can't hear the vocal without turning up the volume so loud it hurts.

The mixer in Cubase isn't adjusting the volume at all for Midi when I use it. When I record vocals without the premade midi, it works fine so I think all I need to do is lower the sound level but I can't seem to find the info anywhere. Lord knows Steinberg's site isn't helpful at all. I don't see the info in the manual either.
 
It depends on what "midi" you are using.For instance:

If you record midi through "inbox sampler" like Halion,or a VST plugin then you have a extra track for the volume just for the VST channels.Its in the mixer all the way at the end.Hope you can understand.Its basicaly a group track for the sertain VST instruments.

And most of the MIDI channels are "off" when you first start the project,so maybe you need to adjust them ? But you would allready done that.

Refer to your manual first and formost
 
I am using the VST instruments that came with it. There is nothing in the start guide about this. I didnt see anything in the manual either but I am printing it out to try and look deeper. I will look for that extra track.

Ok I just realized that there must be some kind of program change at the start of these tunes that is raising the volume level to max. I can lower the volume track by track but it always jumps up when I start the tune again. All I need to do is figure out how to remove the volume instruction.

Could it be that you accidently turned on the automation?

Try to turn everything off in the individual tracks just to make sure its not something automatible<--if that word even exist :D
 
Cubase doesn't really do midi automation in the way that it does audio automation. You need to check if there's controller info beeing played every time you play the track, which is effectively the same as automation, just called a little differently. Do that by opening the midi part in the keyeditor, and clicking in the lower right corner where the controller lanes start. If there's already one open, click the name and select Volume (CC7). You should now see a volume curve somewhere. Remove it with the erase tool. If you don't a curve, it could be the other volume controller (main volume, I think, don't know the number, it's in the list with the other controllers).

If you don't see a controller lane yet, click in the little lower right corner and click Add Controller Lane.
 
Thanks Hal! I will try that. I worked around the problem by using the Read and Write track automation functions to lower the volume to a useable level. I'm sure that what you said is the root cause but I hadn't been able to figure out how to fix it yet.

I have to say that this is one hell of a program for something that was free with the Firebox. I think it will cover my recording needs for a long time to come.

Firebox + Cubase LE + Free Headphones = best $299 I ever spent. Also came with some free amp modeling software that I don't need for now.
 
Ok, I found it. The List Editor shows the list of program changes. You can add, edit, and delete.
