is the PCI 2496 Audiophile part of the Delta series?

I just bought a brand new M-Audio PCI 2496 Audiophile. On the outside of the box, it shows Windows XP support, but the owner's manual has not a single word about support for XP, only Win95, 98, ME, and NT.

Also disconcerting is the Driver CD. There seems to be a driver for every M-Audio product ever made, but no mention of the Audiophile unless you choose USB. In the Delta folder, no mention of the Audiophile. Starts with 1010, then 1010LT, 44, 66, etc.

Then, there's an owner's manual (PDF Format) for a Dio 2496 Audiophile, which has a photograph of the card, and it is NOT the 2496 Audiophile card I just bought with a breakout cable. ???

From the M-Audio website, locating the latest driver for the 2496 Audiophile for Win XP OS, brings up this driver: Delta_1007_web.exe

So, I'm scratching my head.

Do I go ahead and run the install CD without concern? Will the Driver CD work with XP, even though the owner's manual has nothing to say about XP (is it a very old version of the manual? That would be totally inept.)

Anybody?

Yes, it uses the Delta general driver just like any other delta card.

It has perfectly fine support for 2k and XP.

Get the drivers from the net...don't use the ones on the CD. Don't touch the CD. :) That means, YES, use Delta 1007.

The DIO is a separate card from the audiophile.

Sklathill, then what about the control panel?

Sklathill,

I hear ya, but tell me this - will the download also install the delta control panel, besides the drivers?

If not, how do I ensure that I do not install the drivers from the CD when I attempt to run an executable file for control panel off the CD? Am i making sense?

Also, if I do not use the CD for the drivers, when XP finds new hardware and asks for the drivers... do I just click cancel, and then run the downloaded executable?

Thanks much for your help.

Todd

I would install what you need from the CD, and then install the new drivers, if the drivers from the disk get in your comp you will overwrite them.

no i think you run the .exe file once you download it. Then, when wndows asks to install your new hardware, click the search for drivers (or whatever the default option is) and windows will find the drivers you installed from the .exe file. At least, this is how my tascam is installed.

Yes, the drivers from the net include the control panel. You do not need anything on the driver CD, ever. I owned the Audiophile since 2001, and it's just sat in its cd envelope that whole time.

Yes, use the installer, and cancel on Windows trying to auto install.
