I saw it at $499 in a website and I'm just wondering if is any good? how many ouputs?

If the Alesis keyboard you mentioned, in the Q series, is anything like the one I had a while back, FORGET IT.
The screen is ugly to read -- small print and distortion if you lean left/right.
Sound modules is mediocre, or was on my Q-board.
Can't say much about outputs; but, as I recall, the board I used to have had stereo outs.
I think you should really SEE a Q board before you drop the dough. I don't think you'll like what you see.

I just purchased a second hand rack mount QSR, and I think it sounds pretty good. Doesn't that have the same sound engine as the one in the Alesis keyboards? You can upgrade the sounds with PCMCIA cards as well, and I saw a web site that shows how to use the Alesis as a sampler when hooked to your computer.
If you can get it cheap enough . . . (paid $199 for the QSR)...I'd think about it.

I was not impressed at all with the sounds of that keyboard and went with a Yamaha.

I think it's kind of funny how so many replies in this Alesis Forum seem to be "dissing" on Alesis - not that it's bad or good, but just amusing. Everyone's got an opinion...
...as for me, the sounds of the QSR rack module are very nice compared to an old-school Viscount GM MIDI box I was using. Everyone's coming from a different background. My 2 cents -- If you like the Alesis keyboard, then go for it.

The QS6 was crap, though the QS7 and QS8 were pretty good. With the ".1" revision, the 6.1 was brought up to the 7.1 and 8.1. It's worth the bucks, though I bet you could do better than $499. the QSR for $199 is a very good price - it had the guts of a QS7 or 8.
I've played an 8 and an 8.1 regularly. Like them both. I'm not sure how roadworthy they are, but for a studio setting, or a church setting they're great. Have to slog through a lot of lousy sounds to find the good ones, but they're there. Expansion cards are pretty good too.
Best thing about my 8.1 is the feel - piano weighted, excellent touch - you won't get that on a 6 or 7.

I like the QS series, though I am not really much of a keyboardist. For the money, I thought it was great. There is better stuff, for more money. If you want a MIDI controller and some basic sounds with some advanced features as oposed to consumer models and really cheap stuff, it's a good buy.
