is the 002R, better A/D converter than Mbox 1?

I'm trying to get rid of PCI electrical interferences, i'm getting with my delta 1010lt. ( -69db of hum & buzz, nothing plugged in )

I want a PT compatible interface like the 002 or Mbox1, but i don't know if i'm making things worst or better by moving to one of those 2 interfaces.

I've my own pres, and i just need 2 simultaneus tracks. The 002 would be a waste of money for this. i'm just looking for a cleaner signal.

But if 002 is better a/d converter than Mbox1, i will go for it.

(don't ask why i'm interested in Mbox1) :D

I used to own an Mbox 1 and I've had much better luck with the Digi 002R. For some reason my Mbox would lose connection to my Mac fairly regularily and there would be a burst of static. I've never had that problem with the 002R.

If you are having problems with your PCI interface, it is most likely specific to the one you are using. I've been using MOTU PCI interfaces for years with no problems at all.

i love the 002.

i will not recommend the mbox. i think it's a waste of time.

how much i/o do you need?

I second this. The 1010lt's converters are internal, that could be your main problem. If you're not set on PT, don't rule out PCI interfaces with breakout boxes or going the ADAT lightpipe route.

....

The mbox was lacking in many areas, however the new mbox2 pro is alot better. The A/Ds in the 002 and 002R are WAY better, as well as the pres etc.

I found that mbox uses the AK5383 converter for A/D. the same converters used in the 002.

i definitively wanna go for something better, and get rid of PCI electrical problems.

But i'll still need an interface or something, to get in pro tools in case i need it.

What are my options?

You can make decent recordings with the Digi 002, 002R and Mbox. I prefer the converters on the latest generation Echo, Presonus and EMU units over the Digi.

do you know how the MBOX reacts, when you play 24-tracks "full of effects" on PTLE ?

Is there any disadvantages that I'm not aware of such as limitations caused by the USB conection, etc ?

Thanks

The Mbox doesn't react differently no matter how many tracks you play. It all depends on the power of your computer. Everything is summed to stereo before it hits the Mbox.
