Is Roland StudioPack Pro a good choice?

I've been doing a lot of research trying to decide how to set up my PC-based studio (for less than $2000 including the price of a new computer.)

The primary features I need are at least 8 simultaneous ins for recording drums and/or with a live band. And I want to be able to
mix using real faders, not a mouse.

I have considered various combinations of gear, but I'm very concerned about compatibility issues of combining different brands.

The Roland Studio Pack Pro seems to be the answer to my prayers, but I'd be very appreciative if anyone could share pros & cons with me. Or suggest other set-ups that might fit my needs.

I might want to incorporate midi in the future, but my primary focus is multi-tracking "real" instruments. My main concern with the Roland StudioPack Pro is that it might be too midi-focused or simply way over the head of a newcomer to PC based recording.

Here's a link with info about this package:

Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

one of the problems with that system is that the software is logic based and logic is no longer going to be on pc. so when you want to upgrade your software you will probably have to go for another type of software like sonar, cubase n-track or whatever. you could always just buy new software but that would go against your budget.

i read a review somewhere that said good things but then again most reviews do that.

thanks jhira001...

...i appreciate you taking time to respond. Can't seem to find very many folks with experience with this system, which might be an indication of something...???

Too many options...TOO MANY OPTIONS!!

Think I'll just go write a song and record it on my portastudio for a little sanity break!!

I have heard the system as a whole is difficult to navigate.
It sounds like a great concept that was poorly implemented.
