Is Reporter necessary?

I recently purchased a used Echo Gina20 with the 2-in, 8-out box. That's all I received is the box, connector, and PCI card. The person I bought it from said this is all I will need and the drivers are available. Great.
I've been reading installation instructions and information online and it seems as though this originally came with software called Reporter which just lets you in on audio capabilities with the card. Is this all this is for and is it necessary?

Also, I have XP and it seems that this is compatible with 98/00 if I'm understanding this right.
Sorry if this has been covered. I search and read when I can but work tends to ruin everything. ;) If anyone can shed some light on this it's appreciated as always. Thanks!

Anyone?

Also, should I remove my old soundcard and all contents and make the Gina the new and only soundcard? Thanks.

I'm not sure what 'Reporter' actually is, but by your description it seems to be just a control panel for the card. I believe something like that will definitely come with the driver install package. If you have an onboard soundcard, you might consider disabling it while you're doing audio stuff, but otherwise, it shouldn't get in your way. If it's another audio interface that you have, then yes, I would definitely remove it. In my personal experience, I have found that 2 'pro-ish' (meaning better than soundblaster/stock cards) tend to not play nice in the same system.

Thanks a bunch! I'll read up a little more and then I'll go for it.
The Echo website says to install Reporter first, plug in the card second, and then install drivers. Oh well, I'll do what I can and see how it goes. First timer ya know. Thanks again.
