I know that sounds like a daft question but in the Sound-On-Sound Omni I/O review it stated that a cable would be released by M-Audio in order for the Omni I/O to be used with soundcards other than the M-Audio Delta series.
I was hoping to use it with an Emu 1212m soundcard in particular.
All the OMNI I/O does is replaces the Delta 44/66 analog breakout box with some pres and a rudimentary mixing facility. You can do the same by hooking up a small Yamaha mixer to your analog ins and outs...
OTOH, why do that, when you can grab 8 pres for your ADAT IO for 200 bucks and you can use the patch mix mixer for your mixing duties?
of course, I have no idea what you want. If you want hands on mixing, get a Yamaha MG series mixer I think another HR guy is selling a soundcraft Folio Notepad in the ads section here or something.. If you want mic pres, get a Behringer ADA8000 and don't let the ADAT section go to waste.
Thanks for the 'faster than lightning' reply. You gave me exactly the info I needed. I was thinking about maybe a Tapco 6306 mixer and then (when I can afford more mic's) a Behringer ADA8000.
In retrospect I'm quite glad I can't get the Omni I/O as it is one ugly little bitch.
Again, thanks for your help Sklathill, much appreciated.
