Hi I was wondering if it was possible to use the audiophile sound card and the soundblaster card together? I want to record my guitar but I also still want to be able to use this computer for gaming. Is the audiophile still a good general sound card? Or am I going to need to keep the soundblaster in for everything but recording?

The short answer is, yes, they can be used together. Be prepared for it to be a little tricky, though. Lots of people here have used this combimnation and can probably offer more specific info. Try a search on Audiophile and SoundBlaster

I have those exact two cards and they both work fine, though I had to rearrange them a bit in my case to prevent them from sharing an IRQ.

Do you leave them functional and running at the same time or do you disable one when your not gonna use it? Thanks for the replies!

Actually, if your OS allows it, you can use the audiophile by itself for everything and take out the SB.
There is a function in the OS driver panel that has a checkbox for {use this device for digital audio} or something like that. If you check it off it will playback from your CD drive and all system sounds will output via the AP.

I have Delta 66 (which uses the same basic architecture and drivers as the Audiophile) and a SoundBlaster. They are both enabled except for the SB's DOS emulation, which i had read was problematic and would consume resources unneccessarily. I use the Live MIDI synth with Sound Fonts and usually play CDs through it via the standard CD-ROM audio cable connected to the SB card inside the computer case. I also use it to record the MIDI tracks to audio prior to mixing a project down to stereo. I use the Delta for all other audio recording.

As elevate says, they work fine together but I too had to fiddle with putting them in different slots until I had the IRQs sorted out.

I should also say that I have them running under Windows 98SE with MME drivers; I have not yet made the move to Windows 2000 or XP and the WDM drivers. I seem to recall having seen lots of posts about troubles with the WDM drivers for the Audigy and Live cards, but it might not be an issue for me if the Delta could be using WDM drivers and the SB using MME drivers.
