ok so ive recorded a song and i have an organ playing underneath and i want it to fade at the end along with everything else. I have recorded the organ with midi (http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=kspdrawbarorgan&L=1 - native instruments drawbar organ by the way, i highly reccomend it for anyone that needs it along with any other native instruments software) Usually when recording audio i use process-/fade out. but with midi you cannot proccess. the only way i have found to fade midi is to do audio-out from my interface to an audio-in which does allow me to fade but it loses some quality. is there a way to fade while it is still a midi file???
ps. im using cubase studio 4 if that makes any difference

You can edit the midi velocity and fade it to zero, but that's not necessarily the same thing. When the velocity goes down, that can affect the timbre and tone of the synth instrument. Playing a piano note or drum hit softly sound different than taking a full strength note and fading it, so that might not be what you want. If you're running the midi to a vsti, you can use automation to bring the instrument's fader down to zero while retaining the full midi velocity.

there is midi volume, your device just needs to support it

I export midi to audio and then use envelopes for fades, drop out and such. Easiest way for me with more control over whats happening to the sound ;-)
