i just downloaded the trial version of Soundstage, the DX plugin in the FX 3 pack of plugins, if i'm not mistaken. i tried it out on a few mixes, and i think its useless. i don't notice a whole lot of difference, especially when i use the reverb plugin that came with cakewalk works a lot better. maybe i just don't know how to use it, but whatever. thanks for any feedback.

What feedback do you want? RTFM?

What's ur issue?

I don't recall whether FX3 is actually covered in the manual, Q. :p

Anyway, I got it when I bought the PA9 Deluxe Suite. Toyed with it on a few mixes, never found anything I liked, and never actually used it on a final mix.

Now this was back when I was just starting with home recording - so some of the limitations may have been due to my inexperience. Now that I am a giant in the industry ( ;) ) I might reinstall it (since I never did when I upgraded to Sonar) and see what happens. At this point I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Shame on you sir!

This is a poorly understood and abused little application.

From memory, it does respond to "F1"....

This thing works well if you are using a little bit of it and you retain the centre positions for your send panning and nominate different tracks to "performers".

I really like this 'toy'......

But then again, I liked Dio in Sabbath more than Ozzy. I must be a Gay-Lord(TM).

i wasn't looking as much for feedback as i was maybe feedback. if a thousand people said it rocked, then im using it wrong. if a thousand people said it sucked then i'm justified. but if a thousand people even responded, i'd have more posts than the "Hey Moskus" thread and that my friend, would make me happy. ;)

Well come on - get posting on your own thread. That's where 85% of the replies on the Hey Moskus thread came from.

;) Q.

Subtlety is lost on beginners and where you don't have a great monitoring environment. And that means most of us :) :o

In this months SOS magazine, Hugh Robjohns, Tech Editor reviewed the new Focusririte Liquid Channel and said what an amazing piece of eqiopment it is...but that for the average home studio, its brilliance will be lost. Which is a good thing really cuz it costs about $4000 in the UK!

The Almighty award winning producer, Dachay's post was interesting, cuz thats what he is suspecting may have led to his premature rejection of the program. So if he does re-install and feedback to us, that would be an interesting post.

If I'm not spending his money for him, I'm volunteering his time :p

Dream on.... :D

And the post count is your number of posts. ;)

Soundstage

I have used SoundStage on my vocal tracks and really like the outcome.

Although many people abandoned their old plugins, I tend to keep it there. So, whenever I upgrade Sonar, my old plugins would be re-installed as well. Off course, I'm gonna use newer version if I have a chance to upgrade some of them. I don't now, but I think plugins effect is like guitar pedals. No matter how old they are, they are "vintage" in my perception. I always believe "crap" is not that bad at all when you need such character. Remember when they introduce 31 band EQ, and then you need the "on-the-phone" effect? You search hi and low on your new 31 bands to get it... it's pretty complex... then, hey... why don't I try the old EQ... maybe... just maybe... and then WOW... it's there!!!

Reverb is another beast... similiar story... Cake's Soundstage is there for it's own character... for those who likes it :)

I have been using Soundstage with Pro Audio 9 for both instrumental and vocal tracks and I am quite pleased with the results I've gotten so far. I can't say that I really found the presets useful, but with tweaking I have come up with some settings I like. It took me a while to use it effectively. There are SO many parameters you can adjust...
