Is it just me or has the quality of songs really improved lately?

Man this BBS is screwed up. It didn't do anything but double my thread and didn't even put my post up. Anyone know how to delete a thread?
And what about what I'm asking? When I first started coming here a lot of what I heard was awful but now I hear one fine song after another. Any of Sab's stuff is great and what about the songwriting machine Erland? And have you heard Sluice's last couple of tunes? The Passing is awesome. The list goes on but I'm too lazy to go get all the names of people who've written songs i wish I had written. Any thoughts?

You could possibly have something to do with it.

People are getting use to their machinery, software and seem a bit more relaxed now.
The stuff is flowing that makes good music.

There is a world of talent out there, and it's oozing in here.
Nice. So much is nice. Good lyrics, good arrangement, good songs.

I rarely listen to the radio. I much prefer this new talent and their music.

I would second that...... It is truly a pleasure to be able to hear all of the great things that people are putting up. It's also nice that we get to hear them as they arrive. ....still fresh in the writers mind.

Yeah.. I know.. there's this guy named WATYF who just started posting.. and man does his stuff roc....

aw crap...! I was supposed to post this anonymously... (*doh*)

:D :D :D

O.K. so seriously.. I agree. When I first started listening, I heard some god-awful stuff and it was few and far between that I could actually make it all the way through an mp3 with out outbursts of laughter or having to purge my computer just to make it go away... :p. Now I've got playlists in my media player that have songs from this site. I would say the majority (a little over half) of what I hear now is either truly likable, or at least a good mix and decent quality song. (Of course... I attribute most of that to Erland.. but he'll never take credit for it.. :D )

Yay! I can get on the site!
Yeah Erland is one of the really cool writers here. Be sure to check out sluices stuff. Fine fine off the wall tunes. And you're right WATYF, ay least half of what I hear now is happening in one way or another. I think that's major cool. The big record companies better watch out for little ol' Homerec........we're gonna be a force in the music biz if it keeps up.

Wow thanks Bob. But I shit you not, I would be lost without everyone here. When I found this site a couple months ago it was like...home. People I can relate to.

I would also like to add that Mixmkr hasn't put much up LATELY, unless I somehow missed it, but his stuff is AWESOME. And Sam and Erland ought to be rock stars (but they'd have to be HomeRecers still...). These guys were the first of many to impress me when I wondered in here.

I disagree, the ratio of great songs to not so great songs has remained the same

hhmm.. maybe you're right.. maybe I've just gotten more optimistic lately...

dang it!!

I'm losing my edge...

:p

I've been coming to this place off and on for 2 years as a guest and it does seem that lately the bar has been raised a little on the quality of music here. It's enough to give me my music fix.I dont turn the radio on anything other than jazz or blues. The rest I get here.

Sidenote-I was listening to some of my favorite albums from the 70's today and if they were subjected to the scrutiny that songs are subjected to here in the clinic they would get ripped apart as having all kinds of problems!LOL!It's the truth.Im sure all of you have favorite artsist who you've always liked and now that you're into recording you can find things wrong with major label releases of those bands. But the songs outweigh the mix.

I would rather hear a great song with a mediocre mix than a weak song with a killer mix anyday!I think thats why Erlands stuff flys so well around here.People know a good song when they hear it.

Ok,Im done.:D

Now that's very true. I'm a Hendrix freak and there are all kinds of production problems in his stuff. The Beatles too! (guess I'm showing my age ;) ) A lot of that stuff had problems, if for no other reason than the equipment wasn't up to todays' standards. But I don't really care........it's still awesome music.

Amen to every word of that.
