Bring Back Transfat!
I was playing with "Aint talkin 'bout Love" lastnight and it didn't feel quite right with any delay I tried. What's the difference between Delay and Ping-Pong delay? On the CD it sounds like there's some "slap-back", but I wasn't able to duplicate the effect.

Ping pong refers to a stereo delay that bounces from side to side.
Slapback echo is about 30 ms.It refers to the famous Sun Records sound as heard on early Elvis records.

getuhgrip, I may be mistaken, but I think Eddie used an old echoplex Tape delay back in those days, which had a cool analog warmth to it, try a delay set to about 310 mill.with 1-2 repeats, mixed faintly just so you can hear it poke out a little, fairly standard.
Then figure out how to play like eddi & you're in business heh heh,

Hey Tom, slap-back is what I was thinking about when I wrote the post, but I'd seen ping-pong on Digitech's site and it stuck with me. I just assumed it was the same, but you say it's left to right...o.k., that could be useful.
Shred, are you aware of a newer delay that doesn't scream "SOLID STATE!" at you? I'm looking at Digitech's RP2000 or the new GNX2. Any opinions?
Thanks

You could try the Line6 Delay modeler, it probably has a few analog/tape type of models, other than that, I would just do a slight eq of a standard digital delay, maybe just a touch of high end rolloff, etc.
good luck,
