hey guys i am planing on building my own little studio...

I want to make techno/club music and i want to get

a beat machine and a Access Virus B Keyboard...

I want to connect both of them and one mic to my computer to record, mix and master everything down...

I was wondering if DIGI 001 is good for thins kind of thing? or you got some other suggestions?

I `m not going to record any bands or anytihng like that i just want to make TECHNO/CLUB music in a more professional way then Fruityloops...Thank you GUYS for all you help...

If that's all you plan on doing, then it seems like the Digi 001 is a bit of overkill. Something like the M-Audio Omni Studio seems like it'd better suited to your needs, or maybe the Delta 44 (you'd need a mic pre with this card, whereas the Omni has two mic pres).

i am still in to this Digi001 tho...=o)
When I was posting questions about Digi being good for me some people told me its not enough ... hehe so i guess i didn`t explain myslelf before what i wanted to do...

Hey you made my DAY ...i am going to invest in Digi001...
THANKS!

one more thing tho..

do i need other things like converters and stuff to make my music have a simillar quality to anything that is out there in stores? thanks

Well, there's a reason the Digi 001 costs around $800 and there are mic preamps that cost $2,000. You [approximately] get what you pay for and to say that the Digi 001 is professional studio material is a bit of a stretch. That said, based on other's experiences with the Digi 001, I think you'll be pleased with its quality, as long as you have realistic expectations.

Another thing - I don't know if you're aware of this, but if you use the Digi 001, you're pretty much forced into using Pro Tools LE (which also means you're forced into using either Mac, Win98SE, or WinME). I helped a friend set his up this weekend, and only outputs one and two and inputs one and two were available to other programs.

do u have any other suggestion rather then DIGI? i need something that would be able to connect..
keyboard, drum machine, synthesizer, bass station, have a monitors outputs and 1 or 2 headphone outputs, 1 mic and that is it i think...

thanks again

The M-Audio products I mentioned earlier would suit you well, I think. Go to M-Audio's site (midiman.com) and see what they have. As I said before, it looks like the Omni Studio meets all your needs. Search this site and others for reviews though, before you purchase anything. Also, if you're using an AMD rig, email M-Audio and ask if there are any known issues with your motherboard.

If you are doing a lot synth stuff you would be well served with a small mixer like the Mackie1202. Most mixers will benefit from a little extra, clean gain. The mackie will work fine as a basic mic pre also until you are ready to pony up some serious bucks.

hey elevate...

you wrote earlier that if i get digi001 i will be pretty forced to use pro tools le.. Can`t i use other mixing and mastering programs? I have never worked with files other then WAV and Soundforge with lots of plugins....I am not going to be able to use that anymore? thanks...

No, as I said earlier, you can still use any audio program but you'll be limited to two mono ins and two mono outs. So you can use Sound Forge as you normally would. If you use something like Cubase, Sonar, Vegas, or Nuendo then you'll only have the ability to record two mono tracks at a time.

I am getting what Im told are pro sounding results from my Digi 001...

All I use are the onboard Pre's and converters.. Like someone mentioned above, they aren't the best.. but they work...

Proof?

The top 3 songs were done exclusively with Digi 001, No outboard amps or converters... Heck I even mixed it onscreen with my mouse in PT LE..

Verdict?... I love it... and I suggest you get it! ;)

Well, I think you should too, but I am biased.

It is a pretty complete package that does yield pro sounds. Otherwise, why would pros use it????

And don't say they don't. They do.

Yes they damn well do Griswald!!!!!:D

And by the way, where is your brother in law, Eddie?.. :D

"gee Eddie, you shouldn't have..."

I think Eddie is getting a new plate in his head. I think there is a poll in the microphone forum about the best plate <$300

He He... im a major Lampoon's fan.....

Eddie is da man!

I think my favorite Eddie scene is in Vegas vacation.... when him and Clark go for the $1.69 all you can eat ...

Clark is broke so Eddie is paying... and Eddie says, "Uh, Clark... it's all you can eat... we only need one plate..."..
