Hey,

I currently have cubase le 4 and am looking around and maybe upgrading in the future. I want to have a goal of what I need but their are so many cubase products out their that I don't know what to pick. I am familiar with cubase le 4 but heard that that's only have of cubase sx. Looking at the comparison chart, cubase 4 seems to be better than cubase sx. Is that true?

Which product should I go with. I'm only 13 so money is a little issue, that's why I'm going to hold off for now but I need to know what I should get.

Hi, I use Cubase SX3 all the time, but I've never used Cubase 4.

I would think it's safe to assume that Cubase 4 is 'better' than SX3 simply as it's the latest version, with newer features, newer plug-ins etc. Plus Steinberg will be supporting Cubase 4 into the future rather than the old SX3.

...BUT it really depends on what you need. If you don't need the extra bells and whistles of Cubase 4, then look for something cheaper. If you can get a deal on the old SX3 then maybe that's a good idea. I still use SX3 and don't feel any need to upgrade myself.

Even have a look at the Sonar range of products, which seem a similar spec to Cubase but a lot cheaper!

Good luck.

I would say if you can find SX3 for half the price of cubase 4, then its a good deal, otherwise go for 4. Saying that, I would recommend studio 4 if your just starting out. Saves a lot of money.

Having used sx3 and 4, I think 4 is better looking and easier to use. They look and feel similar, but its all dependant on price.

Alright, then I'm going to go with SX3. I can't imagine not having enough features with SX3. LE 4 seems to have a lot of features anyway.

Actually, I think SX3 is quite a bit better than LE 4. SX is the "high end" version of Cubase with full feature functionality. LE 4 is a stripped down version of Cubase 4.

if you intend to use this for some time to come... then i wouldn't do that... C4 was a total recodeing... the vst was a major change... lotsa encluded sounds etc... steiny announced no more support for 3 (they never even did a last upgrade as promised)...

but it might be wise to hold off another month as rumors are that C5 might be at namm this month...

Oh really!

That's what I was curios about. I'll wait becuase I don't need anything more powerful now anyway. But if C5 does come out, I'll be glad that I didn't get C4!

Yeah, I really wouldnt recommend SX3 unless its super super cheap, like I said before.

I'm a bit dubious about C5. Can't see it happening anytime soon. If your looking to buy a DAW soon, get C4. You get a discounted price for upgrading to C5 when it comes anyway (probably 1/3 of the price).
