Hello all
I did some research and I liked the Audio technica at2035. I contacted a local re-seller in Egypt and he said that it is out of stock and he suggested the Audio technica ae3000. I told him that I wanted the mic for screencasting - recording training videos in my home- and he said that it's more professional than at2035 and is suitable for my purpose and he also provided some links to demo vocal recordings using this mic :
http://eu.audio-technica.com/en/resources/AE3000 Female Voice.wav
http://eu.audio-technica.com/en/resources/AE3000 Male Voice.wav

here are the at2035 demo vocal files if you want to compare:
http://eu.audio-technica.com/en/resources/At2035 Female Voice.wav
http://eu.audio-technica.com/en/resources/At2035 male Voice.wav

I can't seem to find a difference between the two based on the previous demo files but I don't trust my headphones because they are very very cheap and also I don't have much experience in this subject

what do you think?

I think it sounds cold and if so , can I color the sound using a computer software to make the voice warmer ?

Thank you arcaxis :)

The ae3000 was offered to me for about 1950 Egyptian pounds. He also has at2020 for about 1200 Egyptian pounds and the re-seller said these are special prices for annual clearance and only for one week from now. I asked him if he has at4040 available for a special price too but he said it's out of stock.

note : In Egypt $1 = 8.03 Egyptian pounds

Yes there are other brands available like Shure, akg, Sennheiser, maybe mxl and Rode but I am not sure if each local re-seller has the entire line of products available.

I want the sound to be clear, not colored, close to my voice, easy on the listener's ears . I can then try to alter/manipulate it a little using any available software if I wanted to do so or leave it as it is.

That price seems pretty good for the ae3000, I do not have an ae3000, but I have several of the predecessor the AT3525. They are really designed for toms, brass and guitar cabs, but I have used one on female vocals and it sounded very good so as a voice mic it should be fine, in fact it's a better mic than the AT2035, and I own one of these as well. Having said that the AT2035 is good value for money and would work for you as well.

Alan.
