Is 48kHz enough for outboard effects?

I just got a hold of a MOTU 2408mkII to add some digital I/O to my (soon to be) existing interface consisting of a LynxTwo B. I wanted the extra I/O so I could run some outboard effects (Kurzweil Rumour and Mangler).

I didn't realize the 2408mkII is only 48kHz capable. I thought this would be a problem and started looking for some 24/192 soundcards, but just now noticed that the Rumour and Mangler are only 48kHz. So I suppose the 2408mkII will be okay for this purpose.

So my question is; will the 2408mkII be sufficient in the future as an effects interface unit? Are most all hardware effects units limited to 48kHz? My recordings will all be at 96kHz, and DVD Audio will be my final result which is why all of this is even an issue to me.

thanks

The outboard FX are only 48k, so you won't get any better than that. The big problem will be getting your DAW to deal with 2 interfaces running at different sample rates at the same time.

I get what you're saying, but it seems that this would be an obstacle that would be dealt with commonly with the number of different studio setups out there. I don't have my system set up completely yet, but I imagine others out there are recording in 96kHz and running outboard gear at 48kHz as plugs using 2 different interfaces.

I would think that most people would just go analog out (at 96k) through the FX and back in (at 96k)
