Irregularly shaped wall: Front or back?

I'm going to be working on a garage in the next several months so I can move my studio into a bigger space. I'm going to be building one wall in between the garage door and the studio room for security, and to control sound leaks. I've considered making it something like an octagonal or some such shape to cut down on parallel walls. The other three walls would be parallel, and the one would be irregular. Is this worth the effort (as opposed to just building a regular wall and foaming the snot out out of it), and if it's worth the effort, when placing gear in the room, would it be optimal to put this behind my speakers or place that wall in the back of the room? My budget isn't quite enough to make an enclosed control room so this would be one large room (with a small booth built somewhere in there for vocals). Any suggestions as to shape?

Do some reading around here before doing anything! What are the approximate finished dimensions of the room? Forget foam - you want bass traps in your corners, traps at points of first reflection and ceiling clouds.
Forget the 'small booth for vocals', record in your main room. Read this great thread on small room acoustics.

EDITED TO ADD:

Oh sh1t, just realized your 'name' sounded familiar. The '24 posts' threw me. You've been here for ages, you should have picked up some useful info, unless you never came out of the cave before.
