Metal dude
I am having a really hard time getting used to this tama dbl pedal.(w/dw beaters) I have been playing drums for a lil over a year( im a guitar player of 9.5 yrs) and since the first day i got my kit i have been using an old shitty gabralta dbl pedal, and a danmar metal beater pad.( i play death metal so I like the CLICK) A couple of months ago i changed the skins and decided to go w/ no better pad on the kick and got the iron cobra pedal. I struggled w/ this fuckin thing tighting/loosing the skin, adjusted the the pedal spring,and the location of the betters and still cant reach the speed that i could w/ my old setup. So i got one of those aquirian white vinal pads-this helped out a little. I like the sound of my kick, but this pedal really fucking blows. I just does not feel right, i cant even keep my feet fully on this pedal. Ive tryed everything that's adjustable w/ this thing and still unhappy.The dam thing just feels tight compared to everyone else's. (when im at a club i go up to drummers and ask if i can step on their pedals) A waste of $260. do these things take like a year to "break in"? Anyone have problems w/ this pedal besides me????
I knew i shoulda ordered the pearl eliminator or the dw.

Iron Cobras are tight?

Hey i am not a real drummer, kinda like you mainly play guitar. But anyway i have a DW double kick pedal and the action on it just rules. Very quick, it's almost too easy to play...like your aren't pressing on much. I have also played on iron cobras, very nice pedals as well, but i have noticed that no matter how much you adjust your heads tension, the spring tension, or anything that they feel kinda tight, and stiff. Great if you are a really powerful kicker, but if you aren't like Pete Sandoval you may have a hard time adjusting at first. I have the 7000 series, i think they are a little cheaper than Iron Cobras, and i think it is more what you are looking for. I see you are into death metal...kickass. Not many people are into that style of music here. As long as i am here check out my band Emotional Flatline's newest tune...Hateless Void. It is in the mp3 mixing clinic. It isn't really death metal, but it is as close as you can get. Kinda Pantera, Morbid Angelish. Comment on the tune, i would really appreciate someone who knows and is into this style of music. Do you have any mp3's up? If not post em, we'd probably have the heaviest shit going on this forum. Later -Shaun

I think i have the power glide, im not a very heavy hitter/basher. My buddy has the eliminator and it rules. My old drummer used axis, he had 3 single(1 for back up) pedals because he broke two them.
analytical man;
ive listened to your band before, not really deathy, more like pantera fear factory kinda sound. their is about 8 of us here into heavy stuff. i dont have any mp3's because my pc at home suxs ass. Ive pretty much "called it a day" w/bands(its all bullshit) and i write w/ a drum machine. And my old vokillist does some vocals on my stuff. keep it brutal.........

Maybe you should check out the rolling glide or the flexi glide? They will both have much less of the "heavy" feel of the power glide (that's what the power glide is designed to do - give you extra oomph from the shape of the cam). I had no idea the axis pedals could be broken - maybe they aren't as good as I've read...

I have an Iron Cobra Power Glide double pedal and understand your concerns regarding 'stiffness' of the pedal...I don't really think that you can adjust this stiffness out of the pedal - I think that it's the inherent 'feel' of the pedal

my suggestion is to sell your iron cobra and buy a dw5000 double - the dw is much 'looser' than the tama. I didn't feel that I had as much control with the dw as I did with the tama - but it sounds like the dw feel would work much better for you....

That seems like thats the case, ill have to sell the pedal, loose money on it because its used now(but not really -never left my house)then get cash to get the dw.

dbl pdl

Thats quite funny. I had the exact opposite problem. I started out playing a gibralter and could not achieve speed until I bought my Tama Dbl Powerglide. I guess to each is own.

WANNA SWAP!!

HEY DETUNED, I HAVE A DW 7000,ITIS THE NEXT STEP UP FROM THE 5000. I REALLY LIKE THE FEEL OF IT BUT I THINK I WOULD BENEFIT FROMA TIGHTER PEDAL. PM ME IF YOU WANT TO SEE PICS OR WHATEVER!!!!! IF NOT UUUUUHHHHHH,I DON'TKNOW LATER.....
